Summary: Probably my own fault as the cheap price should have given things away but to be honest I expected about as much for such an old game. The software is great and works fine but I expected the actual game with original packaging and even the game disc is some generic aftermarket software disc.
Summary: I had immediate trouble with this game crashing, and with some of the characters looking like metal-skinned robots. A quick google showed that this game is notorious for having trouble running on some hardware, especially Intel integrated graphics chips -- which is said to be all Dell machines!
Summary: Great game and loads of retro-fun. So... why only 3 stars? The company I ordered from, Zoverstocks (normally very reliable), have had this listed as 'dispatched' now for 2 weeks+. This is/was intended as a birthday gift *sigh*.NOT RECEIVED!
Summary: If you're like me and thought...'you know what, I wouldn't mind having my own Pirate ship fleet and make other pirates and nations fear my every move, plus I like pirates ever since I saw Jack Sparrow on the big screen' then you may be inclined to buy this game...
Summary: In the interests of Science I decided to see how long it would take me, on the highest difficulty setting to go from the starting ship, to one of the most powerful base ship - the type used by the famous pirates. 8:49 minutes. Well, that was easy, now just to upgrade it a bit and away I go.
Summary: I play strategy games and also good arcades or first person shooters, some of them are great. This game must be OK, I would say, for 10 years olds who have never played an electronic game before, otherwise a total joke for a 'serious' gamer. Where is the fun on this?
Summary: Pirates! was always going to have to face one of two challenges for every gamer who bought it. Either it would have to make its mark on a total newcomer or it'd have to convince those who played its legendary predecessor that a new incarnation would be able to repeat the success of the original.
