Conclusion: The real question is though – is this expansion worth your money? We’d say yes. A lot of these improvements were needed to make long protracted games more interesting, and there’s less of a sense of leaping through the eras (especially the pre and early industrial eras) without really getting a taste of them.

Excerpt: (1 items) While Civilization V ( ) can be great fun, it's also a bit of a mixed bag. It brought improved graphics and more streamlined combat, but the game’s artificial intelligence seemed distinctly under-par, and it didn’t offer the same range of nations and units as some of its predecessors.
Excerpt: Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods and Kings Review The original Civ V is one of those love it or hate it games. Its streamlined approach to world building make it more accessible, but longtime players will tell you it sacrifices some of its depth in the process. The game's first standalone expansion, Gods and Kings, is looking to inject some of the more obscure elements back into the mix, but can the foundation stand the extra weight?
Excerpt: Civilization V puts history into perspective, all within its beautifully encapsulated experience. It perfectly captures the glee of discovering a new world, and the horrors of finding it already settled. It replicates the paranoia of being surrounded by strangers, and the thrill of conquering their lands.
Pros: Spreading your religion throughout the world, Stealing tech from your enemies, Little upgrades to the core game
Cons: How none of the additions feel game-changing, Focusing on religion only to have its benefits taper out, Being late for everything, blaming it on Civ V
Conclusion: Gods and Kings might not be vital to the whole game and may not address all concerns, mostly those relating to the competency of the AI, but it does provide a goodly amount of new stuff. Everything in this expansion pack is something you want to have in Civilization V. Whether you should get it depends on just how much you want it.
Pros: Religion is a fun addition. Lots of new colour and welcome tweaks.
Cons: Religious game peters out. Espionage poorly presented.

Excerpt: Last year’s Civ 5 was great fun, but also a bit of a mixed bag. It brought improved graphics and more streamlined combat, but the game’s artificial intelligence seemed distinctly under-par and it didn’t offer the same range of nations and units as some of its predecessors.
Many new nations, leaders and combat units to play with
Artifical intelligence could still be improved
