Sid Meier's Civilization III

Deaf Gamers
26 February 2004
  • Conclusion: Sid Meier has done it again. Firaxis have created what must be considered to be the PC game of the year. They could have simply taken Civ II and updated the graphics and added a build queue. To veterans this would have been enough. However they have taken the bold step of changing key aspects of the gameplay and I am pleased to say that in my opinion these changes have enhanced the 'Civ' experience.

Civilization III

Thunderbolt Games
3 July 2003
  • Excerpt: Sid Meier’s Civilization III is a great new addition to a franchise that has long been regarded as one of the best around. Building on the foundation of Civilization I, Civilization II, and Alpha Centurai (a similar game from the same developer), this game also incorporates completely new concepts into the gameplay. Veterans of previous incarnations will dive right in and quickly adjust to the changes.

Civilization III

GAMESQUAD
2 November 2002
  • Conclusion: Civilization III may not be the quantum leap forward that it should have been, but it is still the best empire building game around (although Alpha Centauri is pretty close). The improved diplomatic options as well as the streamlined interface make the game fun and fairly easy to grasp. Micromanagement has been reduced somewhat with limiting the player's options too much. If you're looking for a good empire builder, Civilization is still king of the hill.

Civilization 3

GamersHell.com
22 January 2002
  • Excerpt: Throughout the more or less great years of gaming there’s been a series of games that people have basically adored. Sid Meier is the man behind them, the series called Civilization. The previously games are classics, even though the addons didn’t sell quite as much as the main games. Regardless, it’s 2001 and the third instalment has been released.

Civilization III

Game Over Online
27 November 2001
  • Excerpt: Some game reviews are more difficult to write than others. The rare few, like this one, are almost intimidating because of the franchise that the game under review represents. Reviewing Sid Meier’s Civilization 3 is akin to reviewing mom’s apple pie – it’s an American institution, or at least a computer institution. I’ve spent hundreds, ne’ perhaps thousands of hours playing Civilization, and probably another thousand playing Civilization 2.

Marvel : Ultimate Alliance

Tom's Games
3 November 2006
