Summary: I tried to like this game. Really I did. Having enjoyed the Total War series from the very start, I dutifully bought this game and played it a few times. Before I could get into the swing of things, the manditory Steam interface flipped out. I have spent the last few months trying to reset, clear, or re-install. Just to get the program to work. I am not offended by Sega's attempts to protect their intellectual property.
Summary: This game is a huge disappointment. Units are unbalanced and boring to look at. And the leveling system is one of the worst done in a total war game. the higher up you go the more your general costs until you can barely afford 3 units in a commpetitive game. With the new patch veteran units are almost worthless, watch a level 8 veteran unit of katana samuriu break to peasents if the battle isnt going slightly their way.
Summary: I've been playing the Total War series for about ten years now, starting with the first Medieval, and I am no longer surprised that they're awesome. The limited edition is pretty cool, it includes an extra monk-based clan as well as some extra armor for your multiplayer avatar. I've forgotten the name of the seller I bought from (easy game or something like that I believe), but they had the limited edition available for the same price as others had the regular.
Summary: I haven't stopped playing this game since I got it. I like the added Hottori Clan that comes with the Limited Edition. The graphics and the games ai are pretty nice. There is also alot of replay ability with this game due to all the different clans you can play. Highly recommend to anyone who loves the Total War saga. You will not be disappointed.
Summary: If you are like me and played Shogun and Medieval games, then this is a MUST-get game. The battles are epic and you can zoom in (like before) to see the individual soldiers fighting one another. Lasting Appeal for this game is over the charts for me. I was super excited to get this game when it came and I am still playing it when I have the urge to command a huge army and prepare for a total war epic battle against the Ashikaga Shogunate.
Don't buy the Limited Edition - Get Standard or get STEAMED!

Summary: I just bought this game for my son, and I wish I would have found these reviews before I did. I wanted to get hime the extra features of the Limited Edition. The package comes with 2 DVD ROMS, but you can't install the game from them, despite the files being on there (except the Shogun install .exe). Instead you install STEAM, and then spend 4 hours downloading the files that are on the DVD in front of you. And every time you want to play you have to go through STEAM.
Summary: You cannot register a used game with Steam. Do not purchase a used copy! Only a new copy will work. Proper review to follow after a buy a second (and new) copy of the game... The game itself is ok. The graphics, as one would expect, are amazing. The sea battle aspect of the game does not appeal to me at all. At least in "Empire" the naval combat was distinctly different from the land combat. Not so here.
