Conclusion: Vast inprovement on 2006 better graphics more ships 3 more areas to play v step really going from strenth to strenth on there game . still has a few bugs in the game but vstep bringing out patches to sort out problems A GOOD BUY WORTH THE MONEY
Conclusion: That's how damn good this game is! With very realistic ocean waves the ship you control actually goes up and down (and sideways!) over each wave, giving the feeling of sea motion as if in real life.
Conclusion: WOW!! What an amazing game. The improvements over the 2006 version are staggering. The features alone make this a very worthwhile purchase and something that everyone will enjoy from the very first time you pick it up :D
Conclusion: This is the best simulation for ships you can get, it not as good a mircrosoft flight simulator X but it could do with some changes though. Starting with some changes to free roaming, they should make it easy to go from 1 port to the other. Then a better range of boats as a fishing boats and barges (which are in the add on). and able to add more than one boat to free roaming as exaple you could start with a container and then switch to a tug.
A shipping freak's dream, fine intro for the casual sailor.

Conclusion: Without doubt a huge step in the right direction for boating freaks (which I am). To appreciate this you must love the open seas and have a certain patience for shipping scenarios. Saying this the missions are well balanced and even to the casual sailor at least 75% of them will keep you inspired and coming back to improve previous attempts. There are three points of view when you play, outside the ship, piloting the ship and walk around the ship.
Conclusion: I bought ShipSim 2006 as I was after a game that was different and I was glad I did, it was fantastic. Now there is the 2008 edition and what an improvement! Free roam, variable weather, new ships (including a supertanker), new areas (Solent, San Francisco and Marseille), open water sections complete with waves and lots of upcoming features to come (multiplayer and a mission editor are just two).
