Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis

Adventure Classic Gaming
12 November 2008
  • Excerpt: "Holmes meets Cthulu" is last year's scenario. "Holmes meets Lupin" is the sequel. Maybe you are stressed after your previous adventure with the lobotomized cultists. Do you want to relax by exploring Victorian London's museums and palaces while attempting to catch France's greatest burglar in the act?

Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis

Auracore MediaWorks
24 September 2008
  • Summary: Cat-and-mouse just got epic.
  • Pros: Puzzles are challenging and make sense; environments have beautiful decor and reflect their real-world companions; controls are a cinch.
  • Cons: Character design, including voice-acting and visual representation, is clunky in some places; first-person view requires player to spend more time scanning with the cursor than in most point-and-click adventure games; game requires the player to explore every little detail before they can progress.

Expert Review

Adventure Gamers
9 June 2008
  • Conclusion: Essentially, then, everything is in place for one of the best mystery adventures in years. It’s a traditional, puzzle-packed adventure with a modern graphical twist that manages to do justice to one of the most revered literary protagonists of all time. So if you enjoy a tough challenge with plenty of riddles, clues, and a tight, tongue-in-cheek plot, this game will prove a worthy investment for many hours of -- yes, I will say it: fun.

Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis

Game Over Online
2 June 2008
  • Excerpt: Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis is the fourth Sherlock Holmes adventure from Frogwares, an international developer with studios in Ireland and the Ukraine. Nemesis uses the exact same engine as Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (released last year), but its tone is far different. Whereas The Awakened was a little on the dark and morbid side, with an emphasis on murders, sacrifices and cults, Nemesis is more of an intellectual exercise.

28 May 2008
  • Excerpt: Arsène Lupin and Sherlock Holmes face off not in a book, but in an adventure game that encompasses all staples of the point-and-click genre, and manages to remain strictly faithful to the source material at the same time.
