Excerpt: Developed by the team within Grasshopper Manufacturer Inc. responsible for Shining Soul I and II for the GBA, Contact is the first and, at this time, only original game headed by director Akira Ueda. It was intended to be a nostalgic homage to older games, employing one of a kind, but approachable, interaction gimmicks to serve as the basis for gameplay. This fine line is tread surprisingly well.
Excerpt: A professor is on the run from a mysterious group known as the Cosmo-NOTs. In his attempt to escape, he comes in contact with a boy by the name of Terry. Things do not go smoothly during the chase, and the professor loses the precious cells that he requires. Terry decides to play the hero and help the professor out by collecting the cells that have been scattered around the world of Contact .
Summary: Shadowgrounds Survivor tells the story of three survivors who join forces with the last remaining human resistance in the heated battle against the ongoing alien onslaught. The atmosphere and gameplay mechanics of the original make a return armed with a new feature set!
Conclusion: If I had to describe in one word the high point of this game, it would be Atmosphere. This game has it by the mega tonne. Though this is not high budget or high tech, the developers have used the elements at their disposal to their best effect, and the result is something undeniably fun to play.
Excerpt: Shadowgrounds (formerly known as Preyground) is an epic sci-fi shooter that combines addictive old school gameplay and modern technology creating one big nasty alien-battling carnage festival. Aliens? Oh yeah! :) The game is set in the near future and pits you against oncoming alien hordes who are invading a colony base on Jupiter's moon Ganymede.
Excerpt: In Shadowgrounds you play a mechanic stationed at a base on Ganymede who soon finds himself trapped in the base when nasty aliens decide to take over. A deserted and isolated space station with power issues and overrun with vicious aliens bent on slaughtering a lone but well-armed hero?
Excerpt: In a not too distant future humanity has decided to expand into space. Ganymede, Jupiter’s largest moon, was chosen, and after a number of years automated machinery had arrived and made it relatively safe for people to stay there. You play a senior mechanic at a space station, an unlikely hero who finds himself trapped on a planet where aliens have started popping out from the woodwork.
Excerpt: This is a neat game that despite having had a number of similarities with other games and movies, still manages to prove to be entertaining in its own right. Travelling through the galaxy to hotspots, it's your job to stop the impending invasion of alien bad guys before it is too late for the lovely planet Earth.
