Conclusion: Oh, and one more thing. Our editor Dex just reminded me that the map in Sea Dogs is based on fictional locations, unlike in the original game (this fact totally slipped my mind). Hmm... should we consider this a downside? I did wish for a larger map a couple of times, and I miss giving them naughty Panama citizens a taste of my blade, and using an Atlas to navigate... Other than that, I wasn't really phased by this fact much.
Pros: Expanding on the original Pirates! concept. Balanced and addictive as hell;
Cons: Plot needs more work. Lack of catchy cinematics to tie it all together.
Summary: As technological advancements have made games better looking, it has become commonplace for long-time gamers to fantasize about how great it would be if their old favorites were updated for today's more powerful systems. Among the games inevitably brought up in such musings is Sid Meier's Pirates, a simple hybrid of action and strategy elements, which was great fun when it was released in 1987.

Summary: “Sea Dogs” ist ein episches Abenteuer auf hoher See – wer schon immer mal Kapitän, Händler oder Pirat werden wollte, der hat hier die Chance dazu. Abwechslungsreiche Stories, hervorragende Technik und eine tolle Präsentation machen das Spiel zu einem wahren Ausnahmetitel. Wer gerade kein eigenes Schiff im Hafen stehen hat, der greift unbesehen zu, vor allem, da das Spiel mittlerweile von Green Pepper zum Schnäppchenpreis zu haben ist.
