Saints Row 4 Review (PC)

Softpedia
6 September 2013
  • Excerpt: Future installments, however, went into a completely different direction in terms of story and tone, as developer Volition wanted to share just the basic mechanics with Rockstar's GTA, like the open world or the focus on crime. Besides that, the emphasis was more on fun than on gritty realism.
  • Pros: +Super powers are awesome, +Lots of varied missions, +Plenty of impressive activities
  • Cons: -Co-op lag is present, -Missions where you can't use your powers are a bit disappointing, -Some awkward scripting during story sequences

Sixth star added to ratings system to accommodate Saints Row IV

Quarter to Three
19 August 2013
  • Excerpt: Saints Row IV is an epically meta mindfuck of a love letter to fans of Saints Row, which is to say an epically meta mindfuck of a love letter to videogame power fantasies. Profane, indulgent, sleek, varied, luminous, familiar, new, and brimming with the joy of chaotic chaos.

  • Conclusion: It might not have the sheen of Grand Theft Auto, but Saints Row IV is both gloriously stupid and stupidly good.

Saints Row IV review (PC)

HonestGamers
14 August 2013
  • Excerpt: Good news, sandbox fans! Since the people Microsoft hired to make a Crackdown sequel were too chicken to do anything but simply copy-and-paste the city from the first game and call it a day, the folks at Volition have taken a stab at it with Saints Row IV , and they've done quite well.

  • Excerpt: After years of Saints Row games that tried to take the spark of silliness in Grand Theft Auto and turn it into an entire game, developer Volition has apparently declared victory on that front and have taken on sci-fi, the Matrix, and superhero games as their next target.
