A weird game.

  • Summary: This is the most realistic shooter I have ever played. Sure you can heal instantly but eating 8 sausage rolls but trust me thats a good thing. Guns shoot like they really would(meaning very inaccurate)And you carry only a small amount of items. But realism doesn't always mean fun, but in this case it does a good job. A little buggy and dialog is crap but all-in all a good game.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

  • Summary: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a great game, as is it's prequel, Clear Sky. Various mods such as Oblivion Lost further enhance gameplay. I've had some issues with the game being slightly bugged/glitched (mostly with Clear Sky), but it isn't a huge problem. Can't wait for Call of Pripyat!

Great game, but requires patience

  • Summary: STALKER plays and feels like you are deep in the baddest part of east Europe. This is a refreshing change from over-the-top shoot 'em ups. This is a stealth game, and a darned hard one. Pick fights carefully and conserve resources. Explore everywhere and save often. If you want a gaming experience that is truly different, stick with STALKER long enough for it to grow on you.

great game

  • Summary: This game is a blast to play. At first I played it w/o the patches and it was a nightmare. However, when you download the latest patch the glitches pretty much go away. Be prepared to have a pretty beefy system to play this game to it's fullest potential.

Stalking the great shooter

Latro "Latro", Amazon
1 May 2008
  • Summary: This game is different enough from common shooter like 'Timeshift' to make it enjoyable even for old players like me who wet their teeth on 'Blood and Duke Nukem". The visuals are very good and definately lend to the atmosphere of the game. The story is intersting and plays a little like an RPG but your character never levels. Gameplay is difficult so save often. It all takes place in a depressing environment but that just makes it more realistic.

Explorable, fun, well executed

  • Summary: Genre: Action/First person shooter/Role-Playing Once you patch the game to version 1.05 or 1.06, the game is excellent. I haven't found a single glitch yet. The game has an excellent, unpredictable plot. The characters are believable, and the whole game is quite fun overall. It's a bit scary, and some of the language is rough. However, neither of those aspects detract from a game that is rated 17+. Highs: Good gameplay, realistic physics, and A.I..

Interesting Idea Fails to deliver

  • Summary: So far my time with this game has been brief. For a first person shooter this game has a different story line. However, a few flaws make the game a little frustrating at times. The clunky "PDA" interface that delivers missions and tracks stats is sometimes a bit problematic. There is no "quick save" feature, and auto saves are far and few between. Another thing that bothers me is all the damn walking you do in this game. If I wanted to go for a stroll, I'd head outside.

The Most Atmospheric Shooter

gamer819, Ebay
6 February 2008
  • Summary: This has to be the most atmospheric shooter I've ever seen. The minute you get in, you really feel the zone getting into you. The storyline is a bit mixing up if you don't read all info in your PDA but it doesn't really matters. I think it might be considered hard for some inexperienced players though, so if you're new to RPGs/FPSs, I would not start by a game like this, even at easy difficulty.

Great but glitchy

  • Summary: STALKER is a great PC game. Every good thing about this game has a flaw that pulls it down but the game is just too great to be pulled down too far. The graphics are fairly good. They could be much better. I noticed a fair amount of stuttering but everyone's computer is different. It doesn't even come close to the graphics of Bioshock but it definitely is good enough to not take away any feel from the game. Mods add a lot to PC games and there's no exception here.

A BEAUTIFUL INNOVATIVE GAME FOR...THE NEXT GENERATION OF PCs

NeuroSplicer, Amazon
30 December 2007
  • Summary: This is the poster-game for innovative ideas, good intentions, and even better vision, that got somewhat lost in the way of development. The original concept, the crossing-over of game genres, the beautiful graphics, the distant horizon, the RPG feeling (missions, NTCs, journal, etc) of this beautiful FPS game, get mostly ruined by endless glitches of laggings, freezings and overall unfinished development.
