S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is a first person shooter video game that was developed by Ukraine’s GSC Game World. It was published by GSC World Publishing in September of 2008 as the stand-alone prequel for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

The game is set in the year 2011 where players take on the role of a veteran Stalker missionary named Scar. Scar seeks to find information about the dramatic increases in energy emissions of the Chernobyl power plant located at the center of the Zone. It is important to seek information and ultimately stop those responsible for the emission increases as it will kill him if it continues. It will also make the Zone unstable and lead it to run out of control.

Although S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is primarily as first person shooter game, it combines elements of survival horror games as well as role-playing games. The game is similar to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl but provides additional elements such as a faction wars system. There are five factions in the Zone. These include the Loners, the Duty, the Freedom, the Bandits, and the Strelok. The player’s ultimate goal is to defeat the Strelok faction. While in pursuit of this goal, players are allowed to ally with any of the four remaining factions or remain completely neutral.

System Requirements

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky runs on Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 and Windows XP Service Pack 2. It requires at least a 2.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or AMD XP 2200+, a 128-megabyte DirectX 8.0-compatible graphics card, a DirectX-compatible sound card, 10 gigabytes of hard disc space, and 512 megabytes of RAM.
