Rush for Berlin

The Gamers Temple
12 October 2007
  • Excerpt: Date: 6/14/2006 I’ve played a lot of World War II real-time strategy games and unfortunately most of them have been mediocre at best. Crippled by bugs or questionable design decisions, these games have all done their part to drag down the WWII RTS sub-genre on their way to obscurity.

Rush for Berlin

Game Over Online
23 July 2007
  • Excerpt: Rush for Berlin covers the European theater of WWII by placing you in pivotal objective driven battles like Leningrad, Bastogne, Arnhem and many others. I wouldn’t call the Battle for Berlin pivotal in the battle sense but it’s in there too.

  • Conclusion: Rush For Berlin is a fantastic WWII real-time strategy title, with it’s unique offerings it breaks away from the historical pack. However it will take some time before we see if this has what it takes to become a landmark title, I believe it has good chances. Top Game Moment:

  • Excerpt: Get your combat boots, helmet and double rations of vodka ready. No, it's not another night out on the town with the GF! staff, it's Rush for Berlin, the latest WWII strategy game. Stop groaning, it actually isn't that bad. Especially after a couple double rations of vodka. Check in with GF!
  • Pros: ups: Cool campaign modes ratchet up difficulty appropriately, nice cutscenes
  • Cons: downs: Not another WWII game(!), pretty difficult even from the start, toughest campaign is French?

  • Summary: Getting into a World War II real-time strategy game is a challenge these days. So many have shown up on our doorstep the past couple of years that newcomers can only get the Nazi-weary public's attention by doing one thing wildly differently or everything incredibly well.
  • Pros: Interesting and varied scenario design, Challenging artificial intelligence that hones in on your weak spots, Detailed visuals complete with destructible buildings and terrain, Battle sound effects so loud and realistic that you'll wake the neighbors
  • Cons: A little too by the book in comparison with other WWII games, Couple of AI and pathfinding niggles, Occasional visual slowdown in large-scale battles
