Reviews and Problems with Runaway: A Road Adventure

enjoyable - a little frustrating
11 October 2008
Summary: If you liked the Broken Sword games/Monkey Island you'll probably like this although it lacks the warmth and humour of both these classics. Some puzzles are very logical which is good - but some can be frustrating such as not being able to pick up certain objects until someone mentions the problem that that item needs so you have to keep clicking on items in the hope that NOW you can pick them up. I'd prefer to be able to pick up the items at any time.
Summary: I originally bought this game 2 years ago on American import. As a fan of Broken Sword and other point and click adventures and considering this is the game that 'kicked started' the point and click revival I had to check it out. The game pits Brian, a young genius who accidentally runs over the gorgeous Gina on the way to a University he's just been accepted at.
Summary: I loved this game at first, but after I got a while into it, I got extremely bored with it. The game looks great and starts off with some interesting puzzles, but in the middle it starts moving at a snail's pace. The storyline progresses at an excruciatingly slow rate while you are stuck in some huge areas trying to solve poorly designed puzzles. The bane of any adventure gamer is the pixel hunt, and this game has plenty of them.
Summary: I'll play almost any adventure game, because there aren't so many of them around. I paid $20 for this and don't regret it, but I wish it was a little more fun. There really wasn't that much humor. Some puzzles were tedious, there was a lot of trying everything with everything else for no obvious reason, and a lot of going back to the same places over and over because there is now something there that wasn't there before.
Summary: This is a better than average adventure game. Major points for point and click ability instead of using arrows and other keyboard letters. It has funny ,politically-incorrect characters, great animation and sense of humor. Where else can you sit around in your sweatpants and be entertained for hours for about 20 bucks?
Summary: American dream came true! Brian got a lot of money along with a brainless chick and a brand new Ferrari. I always ask myself why people come up with such a cheesy Hollywood like plots? Runway... Is it really adventure game? Hell no. Tired with a lot of boring conversations, linear walkthrough, completely non logical puzzles, and one more thing... blood. If I wanted to see people die I would have played freaking Doom. I simply do not understand. Look at success of Myst.
Summary: I received this game for my birthday. I've got a beast of a computer at home, but I noticed that my maximum installation still skipped on the animation transitions (between the cutscenes). Isn't the point of installing it 100% to get smooth animation? However, despite 3 installation options, the "maximum" installed game still ran off of the CDs, which slowed down the framerate and transition between scenes, which is why the game would oddly pause between transitions.
