Summary: I bought this game for my son. He really enjoys playing RTW. Only con is the size of the file which is very large in comparison to other programs we use. My computer does gets a little sluggish after he plays this game.
Summary: Anyone who owns or is buying this game should immediately download the patches for Rome Total Realism, a free mod which completely rejigs this game for the better. While it doesn't improve the graphics it makes the units and factions much more historically accurate (no more made up Roman SAS style units!), utterly rejuvenating this now old game.
Summary: This game was really an amazing game, great for older computers. Sounds great and graphics are pretty good, seeing that it operates on a win 98. If you have a good amount of times on your hand this will definitely get that time off. All in all it's a pretty good pc game. [...
Summary: This interactive game is still on the leading edge of action games even though it is over 5 years on the market. Updates to keep up the interest are still available so it is a good program. Game can be played for all out speed or step back and plan strategy. Realistic and fun for all. Got my grandson interested in it so I think the multiplayer feature is going to be in my future!! Highly recommended. Contains a history lesson that is fun to absorb!!
Summary: Or in my case, 144 turns... The first thing I noticed was the Roman soldier on the cover doesn't look particularly intimidating. Rather, it looks like he zipped up his chain mail too quickly after using the loo. The second thing I noticed was that there were three installation disks - what a pain! Disk II was in a plastic pullout sleeve that I immediately broke. I have never been able to figure those stupid things out. I mean, do you pop them in the front or the back?
Summary: Rome: Total war is a great game. There are many great things about the game, and a few irritants. First the pros. The graphics are great, especially for a game that was made in '05 (or '06, can't remember). I built a new pc with a radeon hd 4850 graphics card, and can easily have all the details maxed out and it looks great. Second is the music. The music soundtrack is large, with a different track for each situation you might be in.
Summary: This game is awesome. There are a lot of these war games out there where your entire army is represented by 5 or 10 people. Not here! 10-60 troops per unit + 20 units maximum per army + as many armies as you can fit in a given area = a heck of a lot of fun! also, the diplomacy and senate features add to the fun. Awesome game over all! If you like strategy and war (video game war - not necessarily real-life lol) , you will love this game.
Summary: I am writing this for my 11-year-old son. He is dictating to me what to type: This game is tough yet addicting. My mind is always thinking of strategies and maneuvers on how to beat my enemy. Not only does it require me to maneuver my men in battle, but it also calls for me to deal with taxes, finances, and bartering. This game is so fun and you definitely need to get it if you are into history and Rome. It is one of the best Total War games I've ever played.
Summary: Love the concept, it has some bugs you have to mess with at certain points in the game that cause it to crash. So if your not a little tech savvy you may get frustrated, but the game is lots of fun.
Summary: Rome: Total War is a landmark advancement in RTS games. The compelling battles and intricate stategy engine ensure that this game is guaranteed value. It is very difficult to go back to early 3D RTS games such as AOE2 after playing a game like this. Rome immerses you in battles, such that you feel you are actually there and fighting for your life.
