Excerpt: Compounding that particular issue is the fact that it’s difficult to see very far. The perspective is close enough to the ground that you can easily see detail around each building and your base, but to see the whole level you’ll need to use the keyboard keys or the mouse to scroll. This adds nothing useful to the experience and seems to exist mostly as a cheap means of adding difficulty.
Excerpt: You would not think it could get any worse, the world goes broke due to a long recession and then we go and get invaded by aliens, leaving governments on a shoe string budget to hire equipment to repel the invading fleet and then push them back to their home world. Though retro in looks, PUPPY GAMES take us forward in time to when the world is under invasion by the Titans; a strange jaggy toothed alien life who are swarming all over the solar system, with you first...
Excerpt: Revenge of the Titans is an ambitious Tower Defense game that aims to deliver a deeper, more tactical experience than most in this popular sub-genre. The basics of the game are much the same as any other Tower Defense; you have a headquarters that you must protect from waves of enemies by placing defenses to slow and destroy them.
Excerpt: Maybe I'm behind the times, but... a Tower Defence game with... research? Individual achievements? Even though I don't generally like Tower Defence games, this one caught my interest. It's by no means perfect, but it's still damn good, and let me tell you why.
Conclusion: Revenge of the Titans is what you get when you inject some real indie love into a tired genre - style, innovation, experimentation and instant playability. Some may find themselves frustrated with a customization approach that leaves room for epic failures, but most will find the open-ended nature of it all quite refreshing.
Revenge of the Titans: RTS-Tower Defense Extravaganza!
26 July 2011
Excerpt: To start off I should probably mention my innate hatred of tower defense games. I find them to be repetitive, stagnant and unchallenging. It usually comes down to a simple math/geometry equations of calculating what DPS would be best in this particularly shaped track. With the nerd rage aside, what drew me to Revenge of the Titans even though it was a tower defense is the fact that people called this game hard.
Pros: Very Challenging, Innovative in Genre, Solid Gameplay
Excerpt: Whatever it is that you did, the Titans want revenge for it. And that means you must defend against them, with towers. Towers that whittle down their numbers as they swarm over the map, towards that final point of your homebase. Each new Tower Defence game tends to have some sort of twist to set it apart from the others.
Pros: Mooie sfeer, Nieuw leven in Tower defence
