Resonance

Destructoid

  • Summary: I have a voracious appetite for good mysteries, even more so for good adventure games. Wadjet Eye Games has been keeping me plump on wonderful offerings like the Blackwell series and Gemini Rue, and now Resonance . After five years of development, I was expecting -- hoping -- for this to be something special. I was not disappointed. Fantastic interconnected stories, wrapped up in a grand mystery with four interesting protagonists. What's not to like?

  • Conclusion: The graphics would be enough to snare a certain generation of gamer, and the puzzles are sufficient to make the game worthwhile, but what really shines about Resonance is the depth and quality of the plot.

  • Excerpt: XII games and Wadjet Eye bring us Resonance, an adventure game brought up in the old school. Personally, I'm a fan of point and click adventures, having enjoyed the more story-driven side of video games since text adventures like "Humbug". So it was with a measure of anticipation that I began my experience with Resonance. I must say, I was not disappointed.

For die-hard adventure game players, Resonance is one of the best games ever released in the genre and will absolutely blow you away. Anyone with an interest in pointing and clicking their way through a game absolutely needs to play it, as it truly is a modern adventure game masterpiece.

  • Conclusion: While many games with lengthy development periods end up disappointing, Resonance will grab you from the start, challenge you all the way through, and leave you fully satisfied by the time the credits roll. It may not have the most memorable characters or the most evocative world, but it features strong storytelling for people who value a good sci-fi yarn, and clever, devious puzzles for those who want to test their mettle in a polished and relatively lengthy package.

Resonance (PC) Review

canadianonlinegamers.com
29 August 2012
  • Excerpt: Largely due to mobile platforms such as iOS and services like XBLA and PSN, independent developers have surged to the forefront of world of gaming.  Games such as Bastion, Tiny Wings, and Journey are winning over gamer’s hearts the world over for a tiny fraction of the price of most ‘Triple A’ titles. Yet these games do not skimp on polish, content or storytelling, and in many cases are pushing large developers to pull up their socks and take notice of the little guys.
