Great physics are plagued by a repetitive open world
Richard Baker "BinaryMessiah", Amazon
28 March 2012
Summary: The Good: Destroying everything is fun, big open world, lots of upgrades, looks good technically The Bad: Extremely repetitive, unbalanced and unfair difficulty, lots of little inconsistencies Fans of the previous games will notice that the series has moved away from the FPS style, and went with an open world 3rd person action game. You play as Alec Mason who is just another miner on Mars trying to make a living.
Summary: I used to own this game on Xbox 360. I haven't played it for a while and wanted to play it again. I had lost the game and saw it was only $8 on amazon's download service. I was glad it was for Games for Windows because that meant I could pick up where I left off in terms of completing achievements- However this was not the case when signed into my LIVE account inside the game as I found out that it has it's own achievement list (separate from the Xbox 360 achievements).
Summary: It's a pretty fun game... just not optimized for the PC. Controls are clunky, and to make it worse, no quicksave, and every time you reload you have to start from the outpost. This is 2010 here.. we shouldn't have to waste time driving back to mission locations just because we die or fail a mission. Setting the difficulty to casual mitigated this, but also made the game too easy. Graphics are good, but like some reviews have mentioned, somewhat unoptimized for the PC..
vehicles hard to control , should be mouse control
Charles R. De Haven "master of all", Amazon
2 October 2010
Summary: I have been unable to complete this game. Either it is my poor game play or the controls are simply to hard to use for the vehicles. I will continue to try to see if there is a learning curve!
Summary: This game has good graphics. Any man-made object in the environment is destructible which is fun. It is an ok game. I wish whenever you destroyed a building the explosions were a bit more impressive. Seems to me the buildings just fall apart. (I have a 3.4ghz quad core CPU and gtx 280 graphics card so isn't powerful enough for good explosions) Also it seems you can't carry enough ammo for the weapons. I always run out of ammo whenever I'm in a firefight.
Summary: I got this game a few weeks ago an totally enjoy it. I wouldn't recommend having a slow system or a video card with little ram. I have a dual core system running XP and a 8800 GT video card with 512 megs of ram. I had problems in areas where there was a lot of action with the system slowing down to a crawl and really killing the processor. The worst was when my video card fried the screens just went black.
Summary: The game is great, but how do you restart it without a complete restart? Every time I want to continue the game I have to do a complete restart. The icons do not work. Some kind of a memory problem. When I get it rebooted, I have to enter the security code. This is a royal pain.
Conclusion: As a game this is very good and well worth a buy, a good time filler until the new Bioshock/Gears/Alien FPS's come out. The only down side is the poor port which has been done for this PC version, even with the months of waiting. You'll probably need to consult the forums after instalation to make this game playable (Lag/Speed/Crash issues), and a lot of people can only play this in 'windowed' mode.
