Red Faction: Armageddon Review

Softpedia
20 July 2011
  • Excerpt: The Red Faction series carved its own niche ever since the inception of the franchise back in 2001, by letting players interact with the environment in new and exciting ways. And when we mean interact, we mean tear everything down with a big hammer until there's nothing left. 2009's Red Faction: Guerrilla marked the jump to the current generation of devices for the series, and impressed through its wide open world, even if its presentation lacked polish in areas like...
  • Pros: +Polished destruction gameplay, +Great graphics, +Fun Ruin mode

Red Faction: Armageddon

  • Excerpt: Last month, I had an opportunity to check out Red Faction: Armageddon at a preview event in San Francisco. At the time, I was impressed with what the game had to offer. The single player campaign was engaging, the Ruin mode offered up some mindless carnage, and the Infestation mode was a hoot. Needless to say, Red Faction Armageddon was shaping into a significant upgrade over the previous Red Faction game (Red Faction: Guerilla) which was release in 2009.

Red Faction: Armageddon review

Gameplanet
21 July 2011
  • Excerpt: Armageddon is the fourth instalment in the Red Faction series, and once again follows the tried-and-true formula of destructible environments and alien intrigue.
  • Pros: Fun, satisfying gory third-person shooter. Some excellent weapons. Graphics are really quite pretty.
  • Cons: Storyline is a little lacklustre, things are linear and repetitive.

Red Faction: Armageddon Review

AusGamers
14 June 2011
  • Conclusion: The Red Faction franchise has come a long way since the original GeoMod engine and its underutilised level of destruction. Although Armageddon excels in the destruction stakes, combining it with some adrenaline-pumping action and cool special abilities, it leaves you feeling empty with its less-than-enthralling story – well less-than-interesting really – and level after level of tedious objectives.
