Excerpt: Rayman Legends is a treasure for those who love platforming, and the one to pick up if you only jump back in to the genre occasionally. It boasts a wealth of content to explore, and it’s designed to make you play every last bit and love every minute of it.
Pros: Lush visuals, varied level design, wealth of content
Cons: Occasional Murfy frustration, creatures are pointless
Summary: Although Rayman has fronted at least a dozen best-selling titles since his debut in 1985, a large number of hardcore gamers vehemently despise the limbless cartoon star. For some, it’s the forced, self-conscious wackiness of Rayman adventures that irks the most, with each quest driven by characters, challenges and worlds that are oddball and absurd, but nowhere near as funny as the developers think they are.
Game Review: Rayman Legends (Xbox360/PS3/PSVita/PC/WiiU)
31 August 2013
Excerpt: It’s been 13 years since the limbless champion originally hit our consoles and it’s crazy that the good folk at Ubisoft manage to churn out original levels, enemies, and boss battles for this brilliant platformer over this amount of time. After being completely wowed by Origins last year, I admit my eyebrows rose when I saw that Legends got announced this soon after the release.
Pros: - The level designs are brilliant
Cons: - Achievements only get awarded to the primary player when playing co-op
Rayman Legends Review | LEGEN... Wait For It... DARY!
27 August 2013
Conclusion: The Short Version: It's effortlessly charming, fiendishly challenging, mechanically sublime, and stuffed with enough content to keep us coming back for more long into the winter months. It's a blast solo or with friends, whether you're playing together directly, or trying to best one another's scores in asynchronous fashion in the challenges. Put simply, Rayman Legends isn't just one of the best platformers we've seen in twenty years, but one of the very best games.
Pros: Ludicrously inventive, Phenomenal aesthetics, Sound design -- from the little effects to the full-blown musical levels -- is fantastic, Insane amount of superb content, Cracking fun with friends, co-operatively and competitively, Gorgeous art design, Engaging challenges to extend longevity post-release
Cons: Murfy is a bit rubbish without a GamePad, Offline/online multiplayer shouldn't be mutually exclusive
