Railroad Tycoon 2

Thunderbolt Games
9 August 2008
  • Excerpt: The era of the locomotive is perhaps one of the fascinating as man straddled steam power by lobbing it in a tube with wheels underneath and driving it up and down the country to great effect. Those long trips by horse and cart and the earliest of motor vehicles were shrunk into mere hours which had a big impact on the economy, with mail and goods transported quicker over large distances.

Railroad Tycoon II – The Second Century

The Wargamer
26 June 1999
  • Excerpt: Railroad Tycoon II provided an excellent update of Sid Meier's original game concept. Railroad Tycoon II – The Second Century does what every great expansion pack should do: it adds a tremendous amount of added play value to its parent game. Designer Phil Steinmeyer and his crew at PopTop should be congratulated for bringing an engaging strategy game to life, and then perfecting it to its current state.

The Wargamer
26 January 1999
  • Excerpt: Railroad Tycoon II is a worthy successor to its illustrious namesake. Gameplay is deep and accommodates (nay, demands) a variety of playing styles. Railroad Tycoon II is visually impressive and the scenarios are well-conceived and immersive. If you can fight the urge to jump out of a high-rise window when your net worth cascades to zero, then you can enjoy perhaps the finest non-violent strategy game on the market today.

Railroad Tycoon 2

Game Over Online
8 November 1998
  • Excerpt: I'm finally glad to see a game such as Railroad Tycoon 2. For months, there have been endless amounts of 3rd person or 1st person action games. Because of my computer, I am unable to play such action games, so I am reduced to playing strategy games more often than not. Although some good strategy games have been released, few are as good as Railroad Tycoon 2. Railroad Tycoon 2 (RT2) is obviously a sequel to the first game, and many advances are notable.
