Summary: I decided to buy the disks rather than downloading from Steam because that can take up to a day to finish. I thought I would buy the disks and have the install done in 15 to 30 minutes. It turns out that when you run the installer, it has to connect to Steam and its installs from there rather than from the disks. I looked on the Steam forums and there are other people who have had the same issue with no workaround that actually works.
Could've been a lot of fun with usable PC controls
17 February 2013
Summary: This game could've been a lot of fun, but the lousy vehicle controls for the PC (ADWS and SHIFT) kept me from being able to do much for driving accuracy. And since driving vehicles is an integral part of the game, and is introduced at that integral level very early on, that means I really can't play the game even through the first chapter. It was a complete waste of money in my opinion, and I'm even more ticked off since it COULD have been so much fun.
Summary: DATE OF REVIEW: 08/1/12 MY SPEC: AMD PHENOM II BE55 (QUAD CORE BLACK EDITION)3.2 GHz - No OC 16 GB PC 1333 Plextor 128 SSD 2M GTX 560 TI Vista Ultimate 64 (I know, I know, why am I not on Win 7? Because I don't see any poor performance for games or spreadsheets!) Shame on you ID, your stupid game lags on reload, guess what? You will probably have to reload this game frequently because the time trials are painful.
Summary: I had good hopes for this game since it's developed by my favorite company: id Software. Coming from Wolfenstein, Doom, Doom2, Doom3, Quake...I was excited to hear that they were going to release a new FPS. Well guess what? A total letdown. Rig Specs: Intel i7 Extreme Edition Sandy-Bridge 3960X OC @ 4.5GHz ASUS P979X-Deluxe Motherboard GeIL 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3-2400MHz 10-11-11-11 65 ATI HD4870X2 2GB GDDR5 OC @ 900/1800 with Hotfix driver WD RaptorX 300GB x2 in RAID 0...
Summary: It doesn't matter if you have a system that meets or exceeds every requirement. If you can even get the game to run at all, it will crash constantly. I have been a huge fan of ID for nearly 20 years, and pre-ordered this game. Don't waste your money on this game! I have gotten help from Steam, AMD, and Bethesda. Nobody can fix this game! I will NEVER PRE-ORDER ANOTHER GAME, or buy a game developed by ID!!!! HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT This game deserves no stars.
Summary: This game is clearly made for xbox or PS play. The missions are simplistic. The characters talk too much. (when you have to talk to them more than once...i.e. shop keepers) I can tell they were going for a Fallout 3 vibe. The graphics make it...but the storyline is very lacking. Skip it until it's bargain bin for $2 - $5.
Summary: This has to be one of the worst pc games I have ever bought. This game does nothing but, freeze. If you buy this game get ready to use the Ctrl, alt, delete keys alot. Everytime the game auto saves it freezes (Ctrl, alt, delete), back to desktop. My system has the GTX 460, with the latest drivers, and a 940xm CPU. I am at the point where I need to get guns for my dune buggy-you need to win race to upgrade dune buggy. GAME OVER FOR ME!!!!!!!
Summary: I have to start by saying that: while I am an enthusiast, I do not have unrealistic standards. I excpect new games to be graphically competitive with games released within 2-3 years of each other. I pre-order a lot of games and pay full price (this year: Bulletstorm, Duke Nukem forever, Dragon Age 2, Hunted: the demons forge, War Hammer 40,000 space marine, Dead Island, Deus Ex, Battlefield 3...) and have been satisfied with every one of these games.
Summary: This game does not work for many many people out there, myself included. I thought that CoD Black Ops and Brink were buggy, broken releases but in comparison those look like gold. I have a lower high end system with an AMD card. It plays other action games smoothly with most settings on high. Rage is completely unplayable.
