Prince of Persia – PC Review

Unigamesity
21 January 2009
  • Conclusion: Prince of Persia should be looked at as a reinvention of the franchise – otherwise you risk to miss the point and consider the game less impressive than it actually is. Indeed, it is simplified to the bone – which for more experienced or hardcore players is a minus – and in the end it gets repetitive, but it is still a good title. It is simple and fun, fast paced and entertaining, visually stunning and rewarding.

Prince of Persia

Saving Progress
28 December 2008
  • Conclusion: I was surprised by how lazy the ‘no death’ mechanic made me. It spite of the path through any level being laid out as plainly as possible, I still managed to need rescuing quite often, mostly because I had stopped paying attention. Why bother lining up a jump if you can’t fall? Imagine playing through Bioshock , which also has zero death penalty, with a big daddy following you around and killing most things for you on sight.

  • Summary: In many modern games, you rain death upon your enemies; how refreshing, then, that your main task in Prince of Persia is to breathe life into a darkening world. That doesn't mean that the forces of evil aren't on your tail in this open-world platformer, but the most indelible moments of this enchanting journey are uplifting, rather than destructive.
  • Pros: Intricate level design, Beautiful art direction, Platforming is entertaining and looks great, Cinematic combat moves are cool to pull off and impressive to watch, Elika's presence leads to unique gameplay mechanics
  • Cons: Really, really easy, The new prince isn't a good leading man, Some combat and platforming annoyances

Prince of Persia 3D

Gameguru Mania
26 June 2008
  • Excerpt: Prince of Persia 3D is a 3D action-adventure sequel to the classic game Prince of Persia I-II (launched in 1989). It's looking (at first sight) as a 3D conversion of Prince of Persia. Same traps, potions, enemies, but better, much better. As persian prince, you are walking in the fantastic enviroments like dark prisons, caverns, docks, ornate palaces, ruins or fortresses. All locations are in the middle eastern style.

Adventure Classic Gaming
19 February 2006
  • Excerpt: Prince of Persia may not exactly be an adventure game in its truest form, but it is a series that certainly deserves attention as among the best of the classic computer and console games. Created by Jordan Mechner, Prince of Persia is his second game project after Karateka, another classic that has long been a popular game on the Commodore and Apple platforms.

Prince of Persia Review

AusGamers
8 December 2008
  • Conclusion: You can progress through the game using different paths and you're not necessarily told to unlock any one particular level, you can also come back and revisit areas to seek out more orbs, but beyond the inevitable Trophy or Achievement attached, there's no real reason to keep collecting after you've unlocked all of Elika's powers. Speaking of Elika, design lead, Ben Mattes, mentioned she's essentially a part of the game to make you look cool .

EMU NOVA
23 October 2013
