Prince of Persia – PC Review

Unigamesity
3 November 2010
  • Excerpt: It might sound strange for some people, but I never fancied this kind of “action-platformer” titles like Tomb Raider, the Sands of Time trilogy and I didn’t even get over-excited by the highly appreciated Shadow of the Collosus (actually I found it quite boring) – so I was not really eager to start my Persian adventures.

Prince of Persia – PC Review

Unigamesity
21 January 2009
  • Conclusion: Prince of Persia should be looked at as a reinvention of the franchise – otherwise you risk to miss the point and consider the game less impressive than it actually is. Indeed, it is simplified to the bone – which for more experienced or hardcore players is a minus – and in the end it gets repetitive, but it is still a good title. It is simple and fun, fast paced and entertaining, visually stunning and rewarding.

Prince Of Persia

  • Conclusion: Like listening to an old hippie telling lazy, stoned stories. He may remember some moving moments, but you'll probably already have fallen into a stupor.
  • Pros: The ending, which justifies slogging through many grand but eventually monotonous landscapes.
  • Cons: You hear the phrase "fertile ground" for the thousandth goddamn time.

Prince of Persia

Saving Progress
28 December 2008
  • Conclusion: I was surprised by how lazy the ‘no death’ mechanic made me. It spite of the path through any level being laid out as plainly as possible, I still managed to need rescuing quite often, mostly because I had stopped paying attention. Why bother lining up a jump if you can’t fall? Imagine playing through Bioshock , which also has zero death penalty, with a big daddy following you around and killing most things for you on sight.

  • Conclusion: Most will be able to finish Prince of Persia in around a dozen hours, though if you want to collect every scattered light seed and avoid quick travel (you can teleport from one healed ground to another instantly), you could add a few more hours to the total. But while a few unlockable skins may not seem like enough reason to return, this game is so enjoyable and delightful that you may want to return to it as you would return to a favorite fantasy novel or film.
  • Pros: Intricate level design, Beautiful art direction, Platforming is entertaining and looks great, Cinematic combat moves are cool to pull off and impressive to watch, Elika's presence leads to unique gameplay mechanics.
  • Cons: Really, really easy, The new prince isn't a good leading man, Some combat and platforming annoyances.

Kikizo
2 December 2008
  • Excerpt: Sometimes you just have to admit you're wrong. It's the mark of a bigger man. As Kikizo's personal trainers and tailors will tell you, we're absolute bloody titans - gods among insects, sort of thing, exemplars of our species. If ever there were a Nobel Prize for sheer personal integrity, we'd be top of the list. Morgan Freeman's got nothing on us. . We were wrong to call him a "pillock of the first rank", and a "3-for-1 bumper edition of sodden one-liners".
