Eternal Gaming Network

  • Excerpt: Prey has been on the development block ever since 3D Realms announced all the successors to Duke Nukem 3D. This list of titles included the released Blood and Shadow Warrior, but Prey fell into limbo, as well as the infamous Duke Nukem Forever, a title that is delayed so much that it has become the brunt of many jokes. I even went as far as referring to DNF as "Duke-Never Finished.
  • Pros: Great graphics, makes Doom 3 look like another game engine
  • Cons: Combat system is lacking in well every aspect.

Prey

Digital Chumps

  • Conclusion: Overall: If you own a Mac, Prey is a fun play. There is creativity in some respects partnered with cliché in others. While it’s not the Halo for Mac that I had hoped it could be… it’s certainly a fun game. (Much more fun than Chess or Cro-Mag Rally, which is about the only gaming most Mac users are used to.) If you’re a Mac owner and a casual gamer, I’d recommend adding Prey to your software library.

Prey Review

VideoGamer.com

  • Excerpt: We're well into the Summer Blockbuster movie season, and Prey seemingly wants in on the action. Much like the mixed opinions on the majority of summer blockbusters, there'll be people who claim Prey is the greatest game ever to grace a video game system, and there'll be others that can't actually see past the fact that it's not what the other people are saying it is.

PREY (PC)

ccgr.org
12 September 2007
  • Excerpt: The game Prey can only be defined by the word…. trippy. You are Tommy, an American Indian who can wait to get away from the reservation he has been stuck on all his life. You get your wish. The shooting is standard fare but the weapons are very much alive! The “grenades” are spider-like little buggers that you “arm” by ripping off their legs, your sniper rifle has a snake like attachment that connects to your eye, and one heavy weapon is a boss’ arm.

Prey

Gameguru Mania
23 May 2007
  • Excerpt: Prey is a first-person shooter in which you enter a living spaceship which enslaves alien races and devours humans for lunch. To be more exact, you play the role of Tommy, a young Cherokee mechanic who wants nothing more than to leave the reservation that has served as his figurative prison for a number of years.

  • Summary: Prey is a game that offers a bit of originality alongside the typical first person shooter features that it contains. However, with a fairly short single player mode, limited multiplayer mode and not much challenge in the normal difficulty mode it's hard to recommend it as a full purchase at the current price of £40-£50 for the Xbox 360 version and £25 to £35 for the PC version.

Eternal Gaming Network
25 December 2006
  • Excerpt: But how well could a title in the works for so long turn out? After all, we went through this same thing with Daikatana a few years ago, and we know the results of that sad story. Lucky for us, this is not the case. Despite a few minor gameplay flaws, Prey turned out much better than expected, and only systems like a next gen PC or Xbox 360 can handle the final, beautiful product.
  • Pros: Great graphics, makes Doom 3 look like another game engine
  • Cons: Combat system is lacking in well every aspect.

Gothic 3

Hooked Gamers
11 November 2006
  • Conclusion: At its very core, Gothic 3 is still the same as its predecessors and this is far from a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with the game mechanics of the originals, and developer Piranha Bytes must have realized that 'more of the same' would be appreciated by fans of the series. A new, deep story combined with a fabulously well-crafted game world is more than enough for us, right? It is for me. However, Gothic 3 is -not- the RPG Messiah that so many had hoped it would be.

The Sims 2: Pets

Hooked Gamers
27 October 2006
  • Conclusion: Pets alone aren't the only thing in the Pets expansion. There are new Pet-centric objects (catnip, food bowls, toys, scratching posts, beds, pet houses), the ability to have a Sim infect with Lycanthropy (like Vampirism from The Sims 2: Nightlife), and if you own The Sims 2: Open For Business, you can open up a Pet store with Pet display cases. Pet-focused community lots have been added and there are other miscellaneous tweaks and additions as well.
