Summary: A few hours in and liking it, glad i got this game after the update patches fixes. I played Port Royale 2, about 180 hours at least, fun and addiciting. just purchesed Port Royale 3 from Kalpso Downloader. I want my money back, the downloader sucks and i can't loggin properly, like not able to see or scroll down to enter my password. So this means if you wanna play this game anytime you must have internet connection, now wishing i tried Stream downloader same price, too.
Summary: Jim here, with my short & sweet review just in time for the official launch of the boxed edition next week. Sadly, I missed out on playing the previous versions of Port Royale. Port Royale 3 is my introduction into the series, and from the start until now, my experience has been rather pleasant, indeed. To me, PR3 is Railroad Tycoon meets Age of Sail, both of which are legendary and beloved gaming series' to me. There's simply a lot I love about this game.
Realistic economy and pirate battles - everyone wins

Summary: Imagine Farmville, but instead of lamely set in a single farmstead, this is set on the high seas and there's NO annoying of friends to play and send gifts. If you like buying/selling goods and building your own company, you can play in Merchant mode, but if you like more action, you can jump into Adventurer mode and play more pirate-hunting and exploration type missions.
Summary: I purchased this edition as I already had Port Royale 2. I still play Port Royale 2 and probably will for many years to come. I haven't had much time to play the Port Royale 3 as yet, but I have found it to be very entertaining. Once I have experienced more of the learning curve I suspect I would rate this game 5 stars.
Summary: This is a truly fun game. The graphics are good, though not as good as "East India Company", but it's nice that Port Royale doesn't have a fatal error like the "East India Company" had with my set-up. The "freeplay" is great, and it's nice that new pirates keep coming on the scene even far into the game. I can certainly sit and spend several hours playing this at a time and enjoy it.
Summary: Surprised there is no mention of the Oct. 2 release on Xbox360 and PS3. This looks to be a more in depth and realistic approach to the Sid Meier's Pirates games. Looking foward to a game where I can lose myself for hours and, it's only $39.99 which is a deal even if the game turns out to be a disappointment.
Summary: I also have Port Royal 2 and for a while now I could not play it due to my new computer's OS. PR2 was simply too old to run on my computer. However, PR3 is almost exactly the same as PR2 but I consider it an upgrade. For one of my favorite computer games of all time, I got to play it again (because the system requirements checked out), I got a huge graphics upgrade, and I got it for less then ten bucks.
