Positives and negatives..

Logan, Amazon
6 March 2014
  • Summary: The game I ordered made it here in about a week after the confirmation was sent, so about 2 weeks total after order was placed I got it, but the disc wasn't in the condition that the seller said it was in on the review, I paid more money for it because he claimed it was in better condition, it hasn't affected the gameplay so far but those things tend to pop up right when the game gets good, but I world average this out to about a three star experience

NOT Pirates of the Caribbean - just pirates

Kathleen Bartholomew "materkb", Amazon
21 February 2006
  • Summary: This was purchased for a child, at the request of that child. Personally, I don't care for the game. It was clearly scraped together at the last minute to exploit the film - it's a generic pirate game with no distinguishing characteristics except Johhny Depp on the jewelcase cover. I rather resent that. In addition, it performs poorly with Windows XP, and there is no patch that I can locate.

Prepare to be Boarded.. Or is that bored?

Jessler, Amazon
12 January 2005
  • Summary: This game seems to have a lot of great points, but also a lot of bad points. The graphics are well done.. Characters and ships look nice, the storm effects are beautiful.. Land textures are well detailed and don't get boring. I remember seeing an ad that claimed sea-battles featured "Spectacular Explosions".. If a cannonball smashing a ship's hull resulting in a red and orange ball of "fire" to be displayed are spectacular, then the graphics are flawless!

Solid game if you are patient

Amazon
12 January 2005
  • Summary: Unfortunately, the instruction booklet is woefully slim for such a large, complex game. The result is that the game seems incredibly difficult at first. After stumbling across a few of the major controls that aren't even mentioned in the book (space bar allows you to land once you are in range of an island's coast; officers die quickly unless you keep them stocked with healing potion; tab bar allows you to see the entire archipelago instead of sailing endlessly in search...

Great game for Sea Dog fans

X. McKenna, Amazon
12 January 2005
  • Summary: I want to make clear that this is essentially Sea Dog's 2 and has little or nothing to do with the movie Priates of the Caribbean. However, if you want a down to earth, well rounded, ship/land based naval game set in the sixteenth century; POTC will deliver. You begin the game as an unknown freebooter with a small ship. You follow the onscreen script as a sort of tutorial and learn how to move about on land, fight with a sword and pick up items.

It's no sid meyers pirates

Darryl, Amazon
14 July 2003
  • Summary: Beautiful graphics for ship sailing but tedious and not very interesting role-playing. I think the developers made a lot of questionable design decisions and there's not enough movie tie in - that's for sure. If you're waiting for a game that captures the adventure and thrill of being a pirate, Atari has announced the remake of Sid Meyers Pirates. This game is still -to this day even with all the flashy, first person shooters, etc.

Pretty good game

Darryl, Amazon
8 July 2003
  • Summary: This game is pretty fun I have to say. Pretty open-ended, but I would have preferred for Bethesda to spend another month on the game and make it more Morrowind-style. What I mean by this is that it's pretty annoying to enter house after house and have doors locked all around you. It makes going into houses not even worth it. For the people who say that this game is too difficult, I'm afraid I have to disagee.
