This game is the benchmark and example of what a fast paced shooter game should be like

Excerpt: ANSWER: a truly great fast paced first person shooter is the kind of game, that delivers an extremely well paced and balanced gameplay, is fast, has advanced movement techniques those require great skill, is challenging, is not aging, has great replay-ability, is technically sound, and most important - is professionally competitive in the arts of professional gaming.
Excerpt: A game that has been out for some whil,e Painkiller is a classic. To most veterans, it's a standing memory of the good ages, where FPS games would consist of a massive amount of mindless killing, which was, in fact, preffered over tactic-using. Painkiller re-brings us that world, and dives us straight into it.
Excerpt: "Back in 2001,people had got tired of first person shooters (F.P.Ses for short) and started to uninstall quake3 arena and unreal tournament wondering if they would ever lay their hands on a shooter again. And then came a game that took the entire gamin community by the scruff of their collar and forced them to take notice..Coming from the stables of a hitherto unknown developer,Serious Sam presented gamers with the classic "i- got- a- big-f**ckin-gun- ...
Pros: Great engine ,Huge bosses and lots of monsters to shoot and kill
Cons: Repetitive Gameplay, Reminiscent of other games like Serious Sam, Nitro Family etc .
Painkiller Universe: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly!
7 June 2010
Excerpt: "Painkiller Universe is a collection of Painkiller, it's expansion pack Battle Out Of Hell and Painkiller Overdose. The first Painkiller and Battle Out Of Hell focus around a man named Daniel, whose must kill Lucifer's four generals to gain access to Heaven after his death. Painkiller tells the story of Belial, a half demon/half angel thing who wants revenge. All of this is almost irrelevant as the only thing the player really needs to know is to kill ...
Pros: Great simple gameplay, 1 great game and its expansion
Cons: Overdose is rubbish, AI is dumb, some of the secrets are nonsense
Excerpt: "...Many criticizers of Painkiller say that the story is rubbish, and the levels too linear (as you must kill every monster in one area to progress to the next). I must say that I was tempted not to buy the game when I read this; but it is what makes the game so unique. To conclude, if you're a fan a first person shooters 'kill anything that moves' sort of games then this is definately what you've been searching for. And even if you don't like the sound ...
Pros: Fantastic, scary, thrilling, this list is endless
Cons: According to some people its too linear . But they are boring .
Excerpt: "...suffered from this release but Painkiller is also an old school FPS: lock, load and shoot without thinking. Will Rock, another game, was released the previous year but it wasn't really a hit. So, is it good for Painkiller to be an old school game, like a Doom? In fact, Painkiller is bringing some real new ideas but nothing is perfect. The first good point is probably the difference between difficulties. Daydream, for example, is the easiest ...
Conclusion: If you like doom or other fps games, you willl most likely also like this. Very spooky enviroment, great monsters/enemies and very cool weapons. But rather demanding concerning systems demands. I have a p4 2,4 with 1 gb ram and a radeon x1950 pro with 512 mb, and i have to go for a low resolution, and low details...(But its an old computer, and I will buy a new one asap)Still it is a amazing game, real value for the money.
Conclusion: Painkiller is perhaps much more of a successor to the old Doom and Quake games than the official versions. This game is simple, straightforward blasting. The plot is a pretty thin excuse to blow seven shades out of everything, and the fact that the cut scenes are pretty poor and hard to follow is totally irrelevant. This game is simply about shooting things - zombies, knights, witches and a plethora of other demonic foe inhabit some beautifully realised levels.
Summary: I have played a large number of first-person shooters over the years. Painkiller was one of the better ones, but not the best. It belongs in the second tier of shooters. It can not compete with the top tier of shooters such as Half-Life, Far Cry etc. but is none the less an enjoyable experience. It has very good graphics and average gameplay.
Summary: If you are like me and come home from work pissed right off and want to shoot the crap out of some stuff, without having to perform cyber-acrobatics or look for hidden keys and crap like that, this game is 100% perfect. There is plenty of gameplay and it's fairly consistent, with only the occasional "Ok where the heck do I go now?" spell. It looks amazing. Some of the levels are virtual artistic pieces, like the graveyard and the insane asylum.
