Summary: There’s a lot of fun and value to be had with Orcs Must Die, even if you only play it through once on the easiest difficulty setting. It’s an addicting and immersive combination of tactical planning and hack-and-slash gameplay that is unquestionably worth every single penny of the $15 price tag.
Summary: Orcs Must Die 2 is a horrendously simple game, yet its simplicity is one of its greatest assets. Its so easy to jump into a game by yourself or with a friend when there’s nothing else to do. OMD2 for me is the answer to both the questions “What are you currently playing?” and “I’m bored, what do you wanna do?” It’s fresh, vibrant gameplay makes it more than worth the $14 asking price.
Summary: Orcs Must Die! 2 nails everything a game should have. The concept of setting traps and coordinating their placement with a partner is brilliant; it provides a bit of strategy in a game that would normally be full of mindless action. There’s replay value in coming up with new strategies to deal with the orcs, which is great. The difficulty of the levels is just right for co-op; neither easy nor hard. For $15, I would say it’s well worth its price. Orcs Must Die!
Orcs Must Die! 2 – Are We There Yeti? – Booster Pack
17 November 2012
Summary: As I’ve said, I have really been enjoying the way Orcs Must Die! 2 changes with the new Booster Packs, and Are We There Yeti? is no exception to that. The new enemies sprinkled in conjunction with some of the old ones add some great new and complementary elements to the game, even if only in Endless Mode, if that’s what you prefer.
Pros: Old and new content infuses new content into the game, Cool new offensive tools
Cons: If you’re allergic to challenges, that would be the only downside. Great content!
Summary: As I said, it’s impossible to complain about new content for an already great game. I really enjoy the way that Robot Entertainment keeps finding interesting ways to infuse new life into Orcs Must Die! 2 . Best of all, if you don’t already own the game, you can run over to the Steam store page and grab the entire pack–Full $15 game and two $5 Booster Packs–for the low price of $19.99.
Pros: More maps, more ways to play, more enemies, it’s great!
Cons: No real complaints, but I’d always like to see more traps :O), Hobgoblin Healers seem a little overpowered
Review: Orcs Must Die! 2 – Booster Pack Fire & Water
10 September 2012
Summary: I cannot possibly find a single reason why you would not want to plunk down $5 on this expansion, if you are already a fan of the franchise. I would even say that it behooves you to spend the extra $5 and purchase the Booster Pack with a copy of OMD!2 , if you are new to the franchise(after all, that’s still only a $20 price tag for the whole Orc slaying shabang!).
Excerpt: You remember that tongue in cheek tower defence third person shooter thing? No, not sanctum, the other one, Orcs Must Die. The one with the obvious reference to Ash from Evil Dead. Well, it's back, and this time, it has co-op and a small rift's worth of mechanical changes and additions. So, how does that work out? Read on!
Conclusion: Final Verdict : Robot Entertainment took the laundry list of fan complaints about Orcs Must Die! , addressed every one of them while polishing up the formula to an absolute shine, and threw in plenty of new content with the promise of more to come. If you liked Orcs Must Die! , the sequel is a must buy. If you’re new to the series, it’s certainly worth checking out the unique brand of trap defense gameplay that Orcs Must Die! 2 delivers.
Conclusion: Orcs Must Die is a great game that manages to deliver a near perfect blend of strategy and action in its gameplay, and will no doubt entertain a huge amount of players. The difficulty curve is a bit steep but you can always go through the game at an easier setting, unlock and upgrade traps, and then go back to earn maximum ratings. It looks and feels great so you won’t be making any mistake by purchasing it.
