Summary: I used to have this game, but I sold it because it didn't work on my old computer. Now I am getting a new computer and amazon is the only place that sells it! You are probably wondering how I played the game if it didn't work on my old comp: My friend had the game for his computer, which was a supercomputer, and I played it at his house. Here are the ratings: Gameplay 9.8/10: The most realistic game I have ever played in my life, and I am not just saying that.
Summary: Operation Flashpoint is one of those games in which the gameplay is so detailed and so rich that it cannot be fully appreciated until you've played for a considerable period of time. Unlike many Doom-style FPS games, in which fast reflexes are all that are necessary for sucess, OFP requires more stealth, tactical savvy, and just generally a higher level of gaming ability. OFP is set on some fictional islands either in the Atlantic or Pacific around the year 1985.
The most kickarse oldschool war game I every played

Summary: I remember before I bought GOTY,I had been searching a game that gave me alot of room to do things and a wide variety of of vehicles and many other things, now I had played lots of video games but it was always the same thing...then I went to a 8 year old girls party and one of the older guys around the age of 21 brought me into his house (He had tons of wargame software and immediatly showed me OFP)I joined an internet game and waited,I was expecting it to be like any...
Summary: One of the greatest, and most realistic shooting game ever. Forget about MOH! Gotto have this one. Never got bored. Unlike other FPS games this one's got: - a real lifelike graphics - a huge place that you can use it at your advantage - fight with anyhting you can find from weapon storages and dead soldiers - use any kind of vehicles (choppers, humvees, tanks, motocycle, etc) - command up to 12 men each specialized in different fights (regular infantry, snipers, special...
Summary: this game is one of a kind. although many games have failed to pull off 20 soldiers against 20 with difficulty, and problems. the main one being that the player could kill all his enemies quickly because of bad enemy AI and would be able to keep his friends happy and alive. Operation flashpoint solved this problem, making it harder to run and gun going for a more tactical approach. this is because the enemy AI is just very very good.
Summary: Everyone's covered the great aspects of this game, but they've left one thing out: When compared to MOH Allied Assault/Clancy, etc... this game is WIDE OPEN. One of the things I hate about typical FPS games is that the environment is too small. You can feel the game developers pulling you through the game in a certain way (see MOH, Max Payne, Clancy's to some extent.) With OF, you literally have the entire island at your disposal and the islands are huge.
Most open-ended and the mod community is still alive.

Summary: I've had Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis since late 2001 and have also since got the expansion packs AND downloaded huge amounts of addons and mods for the game. I still play it. For those who say this game is "old-skool" and it has old-fashioned graphics, obviously care more about graphics and effects than what makes a game a game. Gameplay! Enjoyable, realistic, leaves-you-begging-for-more gameplay!
