Operation Flashpoint (PC): An acquired taste, but great
4 September 2009
Summary: Games are so often pulled between being realistic and being fun, as the two are so often mutually exclusive, but every so often a game gets the mix right, providing an experience that is gritty and realistic, but also entertaining and compelling. Operation Flashpoint is just such a game - an FPS, relatively obscure in the genre, that was released in 2001.
Conclusion: This game complete with updates is a work of art. Originally about US and Russia Coldwar, it offered quality single, multiplayer and campaign modes. Now there are many available addons and mods which you can download for free from free sites. So from wars, you can download Jurassic park, starwars, startrek mods, armies made and designed, from American to French to English troops.
Conclusion: This game was and still is amazing. Every mission you played was different and that's what makes it so special. Never got bored of it. Best thing that I found about the game was shooting someone was so realistic. The further away they were the higher you would have to aim. It could take 3hours to complete one mission so it's not a walk through game. Well deserved 5 stars and I can't wait until Flashpoint2 comes out.
Conclusion: I first played this game in 2001 and shock horror after seven and a bit years I'm still playing this online. The graphics may be aged but the gameplay and realism is second to none. Forget ArmA nothing can top Opflash for entertainment and subtle realism (having experienced frontline warfare I should know). The online co-op missions are amazing, no other game allows so much freedom and has so much diversity.

Operation Flashpoint - Red Hammer (PC): Red Hammer - an explosive addition
24 June 2005
Summary: When Operation Flashpoint first stormed onto the market a couple of years ago it was revolutionary in its style. The ability to drive almost any vehicle in the game, handle just about every weapon currently used by modern armies, and operate as part of an effective 12-man squad, in perfect cooperation, was revolutionary. Red Hammer is the first expansion to this honestly amazing game.
Pros: 20 new missions, Brilliant new campaign, Host of new vehicles
Excerpt: "...but i'm not bad at Operation Flashpoint. Crawling through bushes over realistically bleeding dead bodies, with one Russian left to kill. Ah, there he is, on the ridge, I stand up take aim, and in Hollywood style it is me who dies instead. He was behind me the little ######. Unfrotunately that is a common sequence in Operation Flash... because even if you set it to easy it's a tough game. Getting to know the controls from the start is relatively easy, ...
Pros: Atmospheric, Mostly Good graphics, Smart AI and Great Mission Editor
Excerpt: "Operation Flashpoint takes place on a fictional cluster of Islands during the Cold war. A rouge Russian general invades these islands and it is your job as part of the American army to repel the invasion. You start as an inexperienced solider but your skill must improve if you are to survive the hostile open battlefields of Operation Flashpoint. Please not that I am writing this at Christmas 2004 and obviously gaming standards have gone up over the ...
Pros: Drive, fly, boat or walk, superb replay, mission editor,
