Omerta: City of Gangsters (PC)

ccgr.org
4 September 2014
  • Excerpt: I have seen and enjoyed my fair share of gangster movies.  My husband has never understood my family’s fascination with them.    If you enjoy classic mobster movies and simulation games, Omerta: City of Gangsters will be right up your alley. Strong Points: The city micromanagement portion of the game is enjoyable Weak Points: Slow combat; No way to speed up the game; Nobody online to play against Moral Warnings: Same issues present in gangster movies (violence, language,...
  • Pros: The city micromanagement portion of the game is enjoyable
  • Cons: Slow combat; No way to speed up the game; Nobody online to play against

Omerta – City of Gangsters Review (PC)

Softpedia
28 March 2013
  • Excerpt: I expected Omerta – City of Gangsters to offer something similar and the game initially seemed to conform to my expectations, with a nicely made theme, mob appropriate character and an interesting range of illegal activities to perform around Atlantic City. The game has two layers: a strategic view of the neighborhood you are trying to take over and a tactical zoom that drops down on the areas where gangsters engage in brawls and ranged battles.
  • Pros: + Gangster theme, + Character-based gameplay
  • Cons: - Limited challenge, - Underdeveloped tactical battles

Omerta – City of Gangsters (PC) Review

Brainlazy
4 February 2013
  • Conclusion: The buildings that you can establish businesses on are preordained and not just in one way but three! There are premises which make the product, joints that sell the product and construction sites that have auxiliary effects for your gang.  You can buy other buildings but all they do is give you flat money in rent in timed intervals.

What-sa come anna go?

Game Debate
1 February 2013
  • Excerpt: The life of a gangster is a surprisingly underused videogame scenario, given how massively popular it is in the movies. Mind you, not all movie genres transcribe neatly into videogameland - played many rom-com sims recently? Back in the late nineties, there was however a couple of valiant attempts to capture the freewheeling, booze-running, tommy-gunning lifestyle of the organised crime wiseguy.
  • Pros: Engrossing
  • Cons: Occasionally pedestrian

Omerta: City of Gangsters brings an authentic yet rough mobster experience (review)

VentureBeat
31 January 2013
  • Conclusion: Omerta: City of Gangsters comes so close to being a strategy game that I’d want to come back to again and again that it became disheartening once I started to notice the cracks. For all the great amount of detail put into the experience, the lack of real, permanent consequences and a fully simulated opponent is a huge letdown. Scripted missions just aren’t enticing enough to warrant repeated plays.
  • Pros: Becoming the uncontested boss of Atlantic City ain’t gonna be a simple walk in the park. I have criminal networks to build. I have offers that can’t be refused. We got a lotta work to do. Whackin’ ain’t never been such a savvy blend of old and new I’ve got my hands full filling wise guys, grifters, muggers, gangsters, enforcers, and other shady characters from the underbelly of society with daylight in turn-based battles. Unlike Firaxis’ approach in the recent XCOM: E...
  • Cons: In Italian culture, omertà is a code of honor that values not collaborating with the authorities or interfering with the business of others. I’m expected to give no names, accept punishment for a crime I didn’t commit if caught, and enact my own revenge through vendetta if wronged. I fear that despite my Italian-American heritage, I must go pentito — I must break omertà — and call out Haemimont for its crimes against game design. What? This warehouse again ?! As soon ...

Omerta: City of Gangsters - The Japanese Incentive

bestgamer.ru
31 December 2013

Omerta City of Gangsters - Recensione

Everyeye Network
11 March 2013
