Expert Review

RPGFan
14 May 2007
  • Excerpt: So this is a review of a PC game. We'll thus assume that at least most of you readers out there are at least au fait with PC gaming as a whole. Sounds fair, right? Let's take another mighty leap of logic - if you're a PC gamer, then it's even greater odds that you've heard about Neverwinter Nights, the smash D+D RPG from Bioware that took to the PC, amateur game developers and casual players all like a duck to something a duck takes very well to.

Delicious Dungeon Delving

GIN
15 January 2007
  • Excerpt: Oddly enough as a Dungeon & Dragons fan, I really only got into the Neverwinter Nights seen in the past year. I played the Baudur's gate series heavily when they came out and I did play Neverwinter Nights for a while until I had to give my copy back to its original owner when the first expansion module came out. It was just this past year when I picked up the diamond edition that I really got into the expansions and the player created modules.

Neverwinter Nights 2

Game Over Online
18 December 2006
  • Excerpt: Not to sound like a whiny game reviewer, but this was a tough game to review. For starters, I didn’t play Neverwinter Nights I, nor Baldur’s Gate I or II, nor Knights of the Old Republic I or II, or really any of the other games from Bioware in this vein, at least not any great amount.

inFamous

Game Boyz
24 November 2006
  • Excerpt: Prior to the final release, I kept my exposure to any information on Sony's PS3 exclusive game inFamous to a bare minimum. I didn't want to ruin the story, nor did I want any expectations to influence my time with it when I finally got a chance to play it. Sony has touted this game from day one as an open world adventure that is worth playing on their now present day console.

Neverwinter Nights 2

ActionTrip
8 November 2006
  • Conclusion: With all this on offer, Neverwinter Nights 2 will surely keep RPG fans busy for a long time. You won't regret buying the game, especially if you've played through the original as well as the expansion packs. On the other hand, Obsidian obviously hasn't made any real breakthroughs, which is a bummer, really, seeing as the original brought quite a lot of fresh ideas to the RPG scene.
  • Pros: Enough RPG goodness to keep you occupied for days, excellent audio;
  • Cons: Nothing innovative in terms of gameplay (that we haven't seen from Obsidian before), technical setbacks, quirks in the AI, certain segments of the game seem visually outdated.

Neverwinter Nights 2 Review

GameSpot
1 November 2006
  • Summary: Neverwinter Nights 2 isn't without some technical issues, but the engaging, dynamic story and proven D & D framework make it an RPG that shouldn't be missed.
  • Pros: Compelling story will keep you hooked for the entire 50-plus hours it takes to finish the single-player campaign, Full-featured toolset lets you easily create and share new modules, This is just about the most authentic representation of Dungeons & Dragons you'll find in any game, Excellent music and mostly well-done voice acting, The interactive dialogue and influence system make for dynamic and entertaining character interactions
  • Cons: Frustrating camera requires constant attention, Steep system requirements for a game that doesn't look particularly good, The artificial intelligence doesn't always cooperate

Primal Prey

ActionTrip
29 August 2001
  • Conclusion: Primal Prey is overall a good game. It's nothing too big, but it's a job well done. Therefore, I heartily recommend it to you with the warning that it is pretty small and simple.
  • Pros: Good, "creepy" atmosphere;
  • Cons: Poor aiming model, not versatile enough.
