"Join us or Die, Mutie!"

RPGamer
15 April 2010
  • Excerpt: A GRSO soldier looks up as the door he was guarding suddenly shatters into a million pieces. He draws his energy baton and screams, "You think you're bad, mutie?" while charging the X-Men who are framed by sheets of billowing dust. His rather unfortunate charge is abruptly ended as Iceman freezes him into a solid block of ice, Cyclops shatters the ice with an optic beam, Wolverine lifts him high into the air with a vicious uppercut, and Jean Grey flings his limp,...

  • Excerpt: I was never a huge real time strategy fan – until last year. That’s when I first layed my hands on Empire: Total War . Creative Assembly’s eighteenth century war simulator completely blew me away with its insanely detailed visuals, robust and engrossing gameplay and intuitive AI. To this day it’s not only one of my personal favorite games, but one of the highest scoring on Cheat Happens.

Napoleon: Total War

ActionTrip

  • Conclusion: All of those nifty features you expect from a Total War game can be found in Napoleon - fun turn-based strategy gameplay, compelling real-time battles on land and sea, and generally rich content for both single-player and multiplayer. Even with all of that, there's a good chance some gamers won't stay too long to appreciate the entire package. The linear nature of the main campaign and the occasionally confused AI, often ruined the experience for us.
  • Pros: As epic and engaging as all preceding Total War games, noticeable visual improvements make for some of the most memorable battle scenes;
  • Cons: In terms of gameplay not quite the leap forward we've come to expect from the boys and girls at Creative Assembly, AI can falter at times despite apparent improvements, a bit of a hardware hog this one.

Napoleon : Total War - The Penins...

Napoleon: Total War - The Peninsula...
