Yeah, it’s not the cutest kid on the block (it’s almost inexcusable that you can play only at 640x480), but after you get the hang of its control quirks, you’ll curse the clock and damn the sunrise, because MoonBase is pure budgetware dope. Read more

Moonbase Commander is probably the best game I had the pleasure to play this year. Combining a very simple concept with a good presentation and an addictive enough gameplay to keep me playing for years to come, the game has breathed a lot of fresh air into the otherwise stale gaming market. While Moonbase Commander will never top any charts, it will remain a favorite of almost anybody who has ever purchased it. Due to the lack of graphical violence and a very low... Read more

Do you remember Scorched Earth? Maybe you use to play it in High School computer class, instead of actually doing your work (since you already knew what they were teaching). That was such a great game for its time. Moonbase Commander reminds of me Scorch, except with a different setting (the Moon!). It’s a turn based Strategy Artillery game (TBSAG?) and it’s a hell of a lot of fun! Read more

Well, another RTS game to throw on the pile? my only thought was if it could compare to the aging, but good, Age Of Empires series, Alpha Centauri, and the recently released hit Warcraft 3. I have been into RTS games for while, mainly because of the Command and Conquer series. The playability was awesome, a lot of different units and buildings to choose from, and then the other ?faction? to choose which had a completely different array of units and buildings. So you... That doesn't mean it's not fun, and like Tetris you can get sucked into the simplest games for hours without realizing it. And Moonbase Commander 's $20 budget price tag does a lot to make up for its shortcomings. If you're not a hardcore gamer looking for the latest graphics and the biggest explosions, or if you just have an older computer that can't keep up with Battlefield 1942 , you could do a lot worse than Moonbase Commander. Fun: This is a great game that the whole family can enjoy on a LAN together. I bought it from the Atari website for 5 dollars after the promotion code was entered. Then I was able to immediately download it. There are no CD keys with the downloaded version. It does reference the installation files, so you need to keep them in tact on your hard drive. But it does not uniquely identify each game installation. So depending on the terms of service, you could buy one copy and... Read more
