Summary: The original train simulator for PC and runs under windows 8. Still a great simulator for Windows but make sure you download the updates. People are still brining out add-ons for this product and they all work also.
Summary: This is a good train simulator for a beginner engineer. I loved how you could just ride along as the game takes you along the route you have chosen. It gave me an idea as to how each engine is operated. The next feature I liked was the amount of actual trains you can choose from. There are at least 2-3 electric, diesel, and steam locomotives that you can drive. I was really impressed with the graphics that they offer.
Summary: This game has given me hours of pleasure. As a railroading fan of long standing I find it very realistic in terms of train action. The train sounds are very good as well. My only small cavil is that some of the graphics like trees, etc. look a little stiff and amateurish.
Summary: This dates back to 2001. The graphics were topline then, but are now rather blocky & long in the tooth. MS were developing a Mk 2 version, but scrapped it in Jan 2009 as it neared release date. Shame. Later rivals like Trainz are far prettier, but I still think MSTS stands up well on sheer depth of play. Start with simple controls (forward/reverse, fast/slow) then build up to using every footplate control.
Dont forget about good 'ol railroad transportation

Summary: It is a great sim software, you can really do alot of multitasking in it able to control your train consist and perform work orders of various types. It is a good insight for those who would consider an engineer position on any railroad to detirmine if the individual has what it takes in patience and indurance with the operation of the locomotive. The sim also makes notes of any CFR laws you broke as well.
Lacks simplified documentation, but is worth the time and effort

Summary: I bought this sim at the same time I bought MS's train sim, I immediately took a shine to this one, the visual sim is great and it gives you an easy ride and run interface. It lacks clear and concise documentation; but it is well worth the effort to ferret out what you need and increase your knowledge of the sim. The effort you make is directly proportional to your enjoyment and just plain fun. I ESPECIALLY LIKE BLOWING THE HORN AND RINGING THE BELLS! whoooooooooooo!
