Men of War: Condemned Heroes

Square-Go
30 September 2012
  • Excerpt: The Men of War series, created by developer 1C, is famous for two things: their reality among RTS games and their mind-bending, crippling difficulty. Fans of the series will be happy to hear that not much has changed with this latest instalment, based around the Stalin’s penal units in World War II.

Convicted Conscripts Fight Their War

GIN
30 May 2012
  • Excerpt: When John, our head editor, sent me an email about Men at War: Condemned Heroes, I just smiled. After being with Game Industry News for just under a year, he already knows how to get my attention easily. All he had to say was, 'Want to play a strategy game where you control Soviet penal unit's?' How could I say no? So I downloaded the game off of Steam and got ready to liberate the motherland.

Men of War: Condemned Heroes

Strategy Informer
22 May 2012
  • Conclusion: Men of War: Condemned Heroes is a good game. The question is; do you have the patience to play it? Newcomers to the genre probably won’t, and even veterans might get easily annoyed at the feeling of helplessness the game can give you when there are so many units but such little control. If you’ve played the series before and like it, then you’ll probably like this one too, especially with the new direct control feature.

  • Conclusion: It’s possible there might be someone who enjoys playing Men of War, but the vast majority of players will not.  There is just really nothing good about it on any level.  The gameplay is bad, the graphics are ugly, and all other features are non-existent or minimal.  If you seek a challenging game in a WWII setting try Company of Heroes, Brothers in Arms, or any of the other MoW games.  Better still try Dark Souls.  This game is worth neither your money nor your time.

  • Conclusion: The MoW formula still satisfies, but familiar units and a stale setting leave this swansong feeling superfluous.

Men of War: Condemned Heroes

Hooked Gamers
20 April 2012
  • Conclusion: Playing Men of War: Condemned Heroes is a wonderful experience and I for one don’t intend to stop any time soon. The only major gripe I have about the gaming experience is that enemy vehicles which are located off the map are still active. That means that if there is an area that’s intentionally hidden from your view, either because you have yet to complete the objectives that open up the rest of the map, or because the units are supposed to come into play later as...
  • Pros: A very challenging brainteaser.
  • Cons: A bit rough around the edges.

Men of War: Condemned Heroes Review

GameSpot
28 December 2011
  • Excerpt: Condemned Heroes pulls no punches and offers no surprises. This stand-alone expansion to the brutally challenging Men of War real-time strategy series offers more of the same as seen in the prior Vietnam and Assault Squad games. Difficulty has been scaled back a bit from that of last year's incredibly tough release set in the jungles of Vietnam, but that has in turn been offset by dreary missions put together without a lot in the way of imagination.
  • Pros: More challenging missions for longtime Men of War fans
  • Cons: Dull and repetitive mission objectives, Incredibly tough difficulty, Recycled graphics

Men of War: Condemned Heroes: review

Critical Gamer
22 May 2012
  • Excerpt: We didn’t think much of last year’s Men of War: Vietnam . The dense jungle canopies and the camouflaged enemy forces that merged into every landscape like machine gun toting ghosts didn’t really agree with the overhead view and RTS mechanics. Stepping back into more familiar territory Men of War: Condemned Heroes takes us back to World War II, but this time puts players in control of a force that has been relatively untouched by games so far.

Strafbataillon angetreten

next2games
21 December 2012

Men of War: Condemned Heroes

PC GURU
3 November 2012
