Summary: I have played this game for years. Still like it. My old disk was getting worn and intermittent. This new package doesn't require the three disk installation of the old one, and plays every time.
Summary: good game! great fun for an older game well worth 20 bucks for a total war fan. had a few problems getting it to work on new win 7 laptop but a quick copy and paste of certian files fixed it in a heartbeat. otherwise works good alot of fun and well worth the money. i would buy it again.
Summary: I have a Nvidia 8800GTS. The game does not work under this graphic chip. The supported graphic chip for the game is Nvidia 5500FX and below, as long as it meets minimum. The six and seven serous Nvidia graphic cards have to roll back the drivers, and eight and up cannot get it to work. I owned the game before, and loved the game play. I can't play it anymore because of my graphics chip, and I plan on upgraded to a higher chip set.
Summary: When I bought this, I was expecting a respectively hard and involved game. I got what I wanted in full. This is not a game friendly to casual gamers or ones who like uncomplicated games, you can't just pick it up and learn it within minutes, but I don't consider this a fault personally. It is very rewarding once you find out where everything is and know how to use it when.
Summary: Strategy games are my favorite genre and this is one of my faves in my collection. It's not as fast-paced as, say, Stronghold, but it's a nice change from the usual strategy games like Age of Empires. It has a fairly high replayability, but can test your gaming endurance. The main portion of the game is played from a world map view which doesn't sound too exciting, but each battle fought can be done from the standpoint of a battlefield commander with each unit being...
Summary: Medieval: Total War is a very good game, it's fun and has plenty of playtime and replayability. However, this copy may lack, if you're seeking to play multiplayer DO NOT get this as you will be unable. I've heard this version has some compatibility issues with some computers as well. Medieval: Total War is definitely recommended if you like strategy, empire building, history and management. Management is especially light here for those who prefer action.
Summary: This game is one of my favorite of all time, which is actually saying a bit since I have played everything from Atari on up. The only thing I can fault with the game is that it needed a bit of tweaking as found in the XL or BKB mods to make it truely, yet infinately, replayable. There are few other games that I have returned to so many times for so long. Quick note, I just picked the game back up after going on a trip to Spain.
Summary: Medieval: Total War is a great game that makes many demands on the player. Unlike the glut of shoot-em-up, kill-em-all, skate-until-you-drop games out there (many of which are FUN), this is a highly strategic game that requires total concentration. However, the battle sequences are gorgeous! (See? I like kill-em-all stuff too!) Some of the random events do get infuriating, but hey, that's the way things go. Nobody said ruling the medieval world would be easy.
Summary: I am an avid student of military strategy and I purchase and play just about every strategy game that comes along. Medieval: Total War is by far my favorite. Having said that I still have one major bone to pick with this game and seemingly every strategy game. I noticed that as I selected harder and harder levels, that the AI's tactics did not change at all, it was still extremely easy to out maneuver and outsmart the computer, however the game 'cheated' more.
Summary: The artificial intelligence in this game is nice except for the generals who commit suicide on the battlefield by storming into the heat of the battle. Sieges are not realistic & detailed enough. I like turn based game more than real time games (like Age of Empires). You're not gonna belief this - I can't get hold of the expansion pack (Viking Invasion) - not available in South Africa (well, I couldn't find 1 yet), & not shipped to RSA from USA or UK. Great game!
