Kevin Eidsmore, Amazon
2 November 2013
  • Summary: No box or game manual, but otherwise happy with purchase. Have not tried the game, but will someday. This item looks new/unused to me since it had plastic wrapping around the DVD case.

great game, but

John Lowell, Amazon
17 August 2013
  • Summary: Great game, but if you push past the winning stage of the game and continue on the disc has a tendency to freeze up. This happens every so often, but other then that it's fun.

better install

Jeffrey A. Douglass, Amazon
20 January 2012
  • Summary: I have played this game for years. Still like it. My old disk was getting worn and intermittent. This new package doesn't require the three disk installation of the old one, and plays every time.

Complicated at first, but great overall

Jeff Werner, Amazon
11 January 2009
  • Summary: When I bought this, I was expecting a respectively hard and involved game. I got what I wanted in full. This is not a game friendly to casual gamers or ones who like uncomplicated games, you can't just pick it up and learn it within minutes, but I don't consider this a fault personally. It is very rewarding once you find out where everything is and know how to use it when.

An all-day game

Matthew P. Singer "Manus Medicinus", Amazon
9 December 2008
  • Summary: Strategy games are my favorite genre and this is one of my faves in my collection. It's not as fast-paced as, say, Stronghold, but it's a nice change from the usual strategy games like Age of Empires. It has a fairly high replayability, but can test your gaming endurance. The main portion of the game is played from a world map view which doesn't sound too exciting, but each battle fought can be done from the standpoint of a battlefield commander with each unit being...

  • Excerpt: "...to the stores to buy. Medieval: Total War allows the player to step into the shoes of a medieval ruler of one of the main European countries, as well as someother counties to the east and south. With shogan every clan had exactly the same troops making the battles very similar and alos no advantage at choosing a clan. Medieval: Total War has so many different troops that every battle is different and tests your tactics and skills to the limits. With ...

  • Excerpt: "Well i thought i must do a review on this multiplayer version of the game, though i have never bothered to play single player mode i have played shogun total war on one player mode. I know that on one player mode you select you race of humans from many, there are britions, saracens and so on. You begin in your land and must conquer all the other land, this is quite simply done, you build a number of buildings in each of your terrotories and ...

Let's Get Medieval! (I Know, The Title Sucks)

azizur, Ciao
20 June 2004
  • Excerpt: "...become Shogun of all Japan. Medieval: Total War is set in Medieval Europe between the years 1087 and 1453, when many factions are trying to conquer Europe. And then there's the Mongol Horde to deal with... The game is split into two halves: the campaign map, where you manage resources, deploy armies and agents, and map out the territories you have claimed, and which you still have left; and the battlefield, where... pretty self-explanatory really. ...
  • Pros: An improvement over Shogun :  Total War, and a good strategy game
  • Cons: Some of the flaws of Shogun are here; not a massive improvement
