Summary: I have this game on Steam and play it all the time, I love it... and I bought the disc because I wanted to install a mod that only worked with a disc installation. I completely wiped every current installed MTW2 programming and deleted the folders, then tried installing the Gold Edition. I am able install and run the first disc, which contains MTW2, but the 2nd disc, which contaings the Kingdoms expansion, does nothing.
Summary: This game's kind of a mix between Civilization and Battle for Middle Earth. You can decide where to focus your attention too! If you don't want to do the RTS side of things you can have the battles resolve automatically and you can automate a lot of the turn based stuff if you are into the RTS side of things.
Summary: Have you ever discovered a great game years after its release and got it for an outrageously low price, which made the game all the more sweet? Well, that's my experience with Medieval 2 Gold (M2G). I picked the game up for less than $10 recently and played through one of the campaigns. It's an impressive mix of real-time strategy and turn-based gaming that gets a lot of things right.
Conclusion: Loved the original, so i bought the expansion. And why wouldnt it work on vista, what would make microsoft think, lets create a programme that doesnt let anything work on it. Of course it would work on bloody vista!
