Medal of Honor: Allied Assault

The Gamers Temple
28 August 2003
  • Excerpt: Date: 7/19/2005 When I was a kid I really enjoyed war movies, especially those set during World War II. The Guns of Navarone , A Bridge Too Far , The Eagle Has Landed ... they all featured brave men going up against the evil Nazi war machine and fueled the imagination of a young boy.  Now there is a game which takes me back to those Saturday afternoons watching war movies, except now I can be a part of them.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault

Game Over Online
12 January 2003
  • Excerpt: I've been told that Medal of Honor is quite a successful series of games; I have personally never played any of the others because they all fell under the banner of squad-based strategy, something I'm not a big fan of. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (MOHAA) has departed from this and taken the transition to first person shooter, with great results.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest

Deaf Gamers
27 May 2002
  • Conclusion: War Chest is a great introduction to the Medal of Honor series on PC and only looses marks because it's not completely deaf gamer friendly. The expansions are a little disappointing for various reasons (Spearhead because of it's length and Breakthrough because the missions are not as good) but overall it's a great package.

  • Excerpt: Admit it. When you saw the opening battle scene of Saving Private Ryan – despite all the horror, gore, chaos and loss of young life in the line of patriotic duty – you thought to yourself, ‘Man, this would make a really kick-ass video game.’ Well, your politically incorrect wishes have been granted.

Winning the Medal of Honor

GIN
15 February 2002
  • Excerpt: Sometimes reviews are just too easy. Such is the case with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Basically I can sum up my feelings and advice in just three words. BUY THIS GAME. Well, perhaps being the resident World War II expert, I should go into a little bit more detail. This is by far the best World War II game and possibly the best shooter ever created. Coming off of a few weeks of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, I thought I had met the ultimate title in this genre.

Expert Review

GameSpot
23 January 2002
  • Summary: Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, the first PC installment of Electronic Arts' WWII-themed shooter series, is superb. However, if the realistic setting has led you to expect a serious combat simulation along the lines of Ghost Recon or Operation Flashpoint, you're going to be surprised and perhaps disappointed. Medal of Honor is first and foremost a run-and-gun shooter--a really, really excellent run-and-gun shooter.
