Summary: The game installed fine on Steam, but after launching the game, another box pops up for Social Club (which is Rockstars DRM basically). I do not care to play the game online or with other people just single player. It does not make sense that you cannot even play the game without registering on their online site. Total bait and switch tactics. Will not buy another Rockstar title on PC.
Pros: None. Cannot play the game.
Cons: Normally I am quite happy with purchases that I make so I generally don't post reviews, but this one was an exception. I bought the game because of the great price and the fact that I have been a big fan of the Max Payne franchise since the first one came out.
Pros: Screen shots on newegg look somewhat OK. Maybe not so much?
Cons: Already owned L.A. Noire so already had Rockstar Social Club sign in. For some reason game will not load, locks after you click enter. Researched online, seems this is a common problem that Rockstar could care less about. There supposedly was a patch fix for this that has already been released. When game locks it tells me I need an internet connection and Social Club membership, I have both so WTH?
Summary: Having played MP1 and 2 and enjoyed them, I was deeply disappointed by the wasted potential represented in MP3. Rockstar has the nuts and bolts of gameplay down well enough - if not much improved over the second installment - but chains them to an abysmal save system, endless unskippable cutscenes (for which the 'still loading' lie is brazenly revealed when you save at a checkpoint with no cutscene, quit the game, and resume later with a 4s pause between clicking...
Conclusion: ..........frustrating and for me a waste of money. It's more like a film than a game, waiting for the cut scenes to finish so you can actually interact. I admit I may not be the best game player but having to sit through the 'story' again and again when you get killed is a nightmare,
Summary: Having now played it for an hour or so, I can tell you this much: Max Payne
3 is not a game. It's a movie. Sometimes you get to control Max and shoot some bad guys. The rails are very
tight, but that's not annoying because you don't get to do it for
very long. In between short pointless gunfights you are subjected to unskippable
cutscenes with gratuitous post-processing affects that make you want to clean
