Summary: As with other reviewers, I get the "Failed to authenticate the disc" message and the game quits. This after a looooong, two disc, but successful (supposedly) installation. I, too, will never purchase another Electronic Arts game.
EA's Activation Process is self serving They do not care about the customer
7 April 2012
Summary: Just purchased the downloadable version of Mass Effect 2. Trying to activate the game wasted 45 minutes of my afternoon and it still does not work.. Amazon will not refund the purchase price and told me to contact EA. I cannot rate the game because I cannot activate the game. Now i have to look forward to spending time with EA customer support troubleshooting their mistakes.
Summary: The game wouldn't boot. It showed the same fatal error on two powerful computers. I suspect that the vendor may have sold me a "grayware" product -- foreign software versions of dubious authenticity. The instructions were in Russian, with to bilingual options that I could find. So the game is likely great, but my purchase was a bust.
Summary: Warning to all, read the technical specs carefully! Where it states ‘video
card not supported’ it means ‘extremely unlikely to work.’ I have spent
hours searching the internet for why it crashes on start-up. It almost always
boils down to the graphics card.
