Summary: I must agree with the review that said roller coaster tycoon had better graphics... I WAS disappointed with that aspect. but over all i found the scenarios to be quite challenging. and to the one who made the comment abpot sticking a "premade" store on a piece of ground.... you obviously didn't play much of the game because even though the scenarios start you off with a "premade" mall you DO have the ability to MAKE ADJUSTMENTS I bought the game for my niece when she was...
Excerpt: Mall Tycoon - Unfortunately its just another sim game. Once you've played one you've played them all. Just like all the other tycoon games you have to build up your business. As the name suggests you are building a mall/shopping centre. Before you start into the game you can play in tutorial mode. This teaches you all the basics but not everything. Then get you teeth stuck into it. Build shops, lay floors and build walls. Don't forget to add the toilets!
Excerpt: Ok before i satrt i just say one thing before i talk about the game in detail.... DONT BUY IT ! Ok here goes basically mall tycoon is quite an old game where you have to build and run a succesful shopping mall. There does seem to be much of an aim to the the game... i mean you build the mall and the odd person will come and visit.... WOW ! Also the graphics are really bad and so is the sound !
Excerpt: I was very excited when I bought this game, only to be disappointed after just a couple of hours of play. You start with a blank patch of land on which to build your mall. You then have the opportunity to build different types of shops (clothes, appliances), eateries (fast food, juice bar), services (dry cleaning, photo development) and facilities (toilets, bins etc). As the game develops, more shops or facilities become available.
Excerpt: Mall Tycoon, I have to say is probably the most dissapointing of the Tycoon series. While the others are fantastic, amusing and challanging, Mall Tycoon is more mediocre. The idea of the game is to create a mall to make money with. There are two play options, free play and scenario options. The free play/tutorials are really useful for beginners, they are helpful, and give alot of details about gameplay and game options.
Excerpt: Well here we go with another management sim, however this one is slightly different. The purpose of the game is to build a shopping mall to be proud of. You start off with a small amount of money to build a mall. You start by buying a plot of land, and then build walls around the land. Make sure you put in plenty of doors for also those lovely shoppers, and hire greeters to greet people and make them feel wanted.
Pros: Captivating a must for all shopaholocics
Cons: Slow when mall is complete and doesnt last long
Excerpt: I prefer the free play rather than the scenarios in most stratergys this is the best option with mall tycoon as this means you can build a mall with out worrying about earning so much money within a time limit then having to start again. This is very rare in stratergys and in my apinion is a major pro. I did get bored though as i found the easy mode far too easy to start with so i would suggest skipping easy and going straight onto medium.
Pros: Very good free play option
Cons: Can demand a lot on graphics cards late in game
Excerpt: When I first played this game, i was impressed by the amount of features. You can build lots of different types of shops, depatment stores, gadget shops, music shops, clothes shops etc. You can build teo floors as well. You can set things like price and colours and build decorations and stalls to go in the mall too. There is a lot of financial information you can look at as well but i wouldn't call it very realistic.
Pros: Good idea + lots to do
Cons: really poor graphics for such a modern game .
Excerpt: I bought this Sim game on an Amazon auction for a steal but it costs £9.99 new so try places like this first. Having bought and loved the Sims as well as other management games like Theme Park World I decided that this was the genre for me. The first thing I did with the game was enter the 'Free play' mode. i spent a few hours tinkering with the game and instantly found myself engrossed in it. There was so much to do in terms of research, stores and furnishings.
Pros: A high level of user interaction
Cons: Graphics are not as aesthetically pleasing as the Sims
