  • Conclusion: Lucius is an awful game and one that should be avoided like the number 666.
  • Pros: An interesting idea and take on the puzzle genre.
  • Cons: Awful logic, terrible puzzles, amazingly poor story, stifling linearity and complete lack of ingenuity.

  • Conclusion: There’s a lot of content on offer for the reduced price, and Lucius will certainly appeal to puzzle enthusiasts who want a darker edge to their adventuring, or murder enthusiasts who’d like to give their brain a work out rather than their stabbing arm. The devil’s certainly in the details, just don’t come crying when the mechanical side of evil turns out to be its own kind of tiny hell.

  • Conclusion: But if the premise appeals to you, there is quite a bit to like here. Clearly the game has its flaws, and as such I can't recommend it to just anybody, but neither is it a bad game. There are some truly memorable experiences to be found in Lucius, some morbidly funny, some horrific and disturbing. For patient gamers who are forgiving of some clumsy design and sketchy production values, controlling the Son of Satan can be darkly compelling.

  • Summary: It ain't easy being the Antichrist. In adventure/puzzle game Lucius, you experience the trials and tribulations of being the firstborn son of the big red guy with the horns. As you might expect given the young lad's pedigree, when he suffers growing pains, they involve a sizable body count. Lucifer is a demanding daddy, who wants souls in exchange for building the tyke up with telekinetic powers.
  • Pros: Antihero Antichrist protagonist is a great concept, Subtly creepy with splashes of serious gore during the murders, Very challenging, with a lot of exploration needed to solve the murder puzzles
  • Cons: Kills are all linear, Puzzles involve pixel hunts through a huge, heavily detailed mansion, Needs more overt black humor to offset the grim nature of the storyline, Very long load times

Game Review: Lucius [PC]

push-start.co.uk
20 November 2012
  • Excerpt: Lucius, son of the devil, is roaming the halls of his family’s mansion murdering people left and right. It’s a fun idea for a game, and shockingly one that hasn’t been overdone. But does Lucius pack enough punch to warrant a purchase?
  • Pros: - Good ideas
  • Cons: - Poor execution

Lucius

Push Start
25 February 2013
