Lost Planet

2 November 2007
  • Excerpt: If you’ve ever had that dream where all the awesome things you love are in one place, but everything is a little hazy and it all ends too soon when you wake up, you’ll have a good idea what playing Lost Planet is like. This ported Xbox 360 game is packed to the brim with enough giant insects, killer worms, armored mechs, and glorious explosions to enthrall any science-fiction geek.
  • Pros: Fast-paced and visually gratifying action both offline and online.
  • Cons: All-too-brief campaign that's hastened by a minor faulty gameplay mechanic.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

ActionTrip

  • Conclusion: In closing, even though the game may feel slightly repetitive, and the mouse lag and other minor cases of "consolitis" (performance on some systems) may annoy some gamers, the quality of the action itself and the sheer magnificence of some scenes, should prove a good enough reason to play this one. I for one am really glad I got the chance to enjoy both the action and the storyline (tacky at some instances, but endearing nonetheless).
  • Pros: Great action, the boss fights alone are worth the price of admission, stunning effects, in-engine cinematics;
  • Cons: It all gets a bit repetitive after a while, low replay value for the single-player campaign, porting issues, performance on some systems.

Expert Review

GameSpot
28 June 2007
  • Summary: Capcom has opted to bring Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, its exciting Xbox 360 shooter, to the PC, complete with DX10 support. But all is not well with this port. Right off the bat, you'll detect signs of platform translation. The pop-up tutorials all refer to the Xbox 360 controller, leaving equivalent keyboard commands completely out of the equation--and if you're a keyboard jockey, the correspondingly awkward menu navigation will be the first thing you notice.
  • Pros: Stunning environments and creature designs, Enjoyable boss encounters, Firefights against enormous bugs are fun and exhilarating
  • Cons: Broken netcode may or may not let you into a multiplayer game, Various technical and porting issues get in the way of the enjoyment, Short single-player campaign is relatively easy

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition (PC) - (Kurz)Review

Gamezoom.NET
23 June 2008
  • Summary: Ein Kurz-Test bekommt auch ein Kurz-Fazit.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

9lives
14 March 2008
  • Cons: Voice acting, Framerate problemen, Logge besturing
