Summary: they made this game to be sort of like starcraft or warcraft theme, once you learn the game its very fun to play, i usually play the computer and have had over an 8 hour battle with 7 computer players, unlike the first game you can defend your base and the computers will usually eliminate each other, then send most of their whole army after you, beat that and you will win, but entertaining game, like age of empires games, another of my favorites,...
Summary: I am a HUGE fan of RTS games with command and conquer and total annihilation being my favorites. This is a simple, yet action packed RTS that is a blast to play. You choose from your favorite LOTR races so anyone familiar with the fantasy series will smile when they see the characters involved. There isn't much in the way of units/buildings, but it is meant to be a fast paced game anyways, not a 10 hour affair like total annihilation.
Summary: Plenty of people here reviewing the game, I just wanted to tell everyone how to make it work on newer computers. This trick works for LOTR BFME I and Rise of the Witch King as well. This trick works on Windows 7 and probably works for Vista too, just never tried it. I seriously doubt you will have problems with XP machines.
Summary: I was eager to purchase this game, but took the precaution of checking with the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center and discovered that none of these games will work with 64 bit Windows 7 (though they are compatible with 32 bit Windows 7). Naturally, I'm running the 64 bit version so I'm out of luck, but glad I checked first!
Summary: Expands on LOTR Battle For Middle Earth by expanding the capabilities of the original, including the ability to create Heroes from a variety of races with a large variety of powers. Battle For Middle Earth 2 is pretty difficult compared to the original, but my 13 year old has mastered it and loves it for it's creating capabilities. The last episode is Rise Of The Witch King which is exciting, has great graphics, and a cast of characters new and a few familiar.
Summary: We multiplayer with and against each other and have a blast doing it... My sons and I are huge fans of the LOTR series and these RTS games are the most enjoyed and most played in my house.... ... for those concerned about Vista OS compatability, we have had no issues. We solo and multi on two vista and one xp computers without any issues.
Summary: This anthology containing all "Battle for middle-earth" games produced by EA is really a great value. Priced separately the three games total to around $50 on most websites. Also of note, on most websites and retail outlets this game is priced $39 and change rather than $36 and change. With free shipping, this is a great deal.
Summary: I haven't always like Lord of the Rings until the third installment came to DVD at which point I had accidentally fallen in love with the trilogy and the lore. I've always wondered what it would look like if the good side didn't always win. The skirmishes that took place in between the quest of the fellowship. Battle for Middle Earth does that for you, it allows you to play the evil side in the Evil Campaign.
