Summary: Okay, I let my son buy this with money that he saved, DESPITE the poor reviews on Amazon. This game has a serious problem - it only works with a SELECT FEW graphics cards. (It requires something called pixel shader v1.1 - and don't think the fact that your card supports pixel shader v2.0 or 4.0 helps. It doesn't.) Also, don't assume that the fact that you have a brand new pc with great graphics matters either.
Summary: I recieved this game for Christmas and was very disappointed when I found out it wouldn't work on my Windows XP Dell. I have the wrong video card. A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL HAVE THE WRONG CARD, FIND OUT IF YOU CAN PLAY THIS GAME ON YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE YOU BUY!!! I wish I knew this before: go to the Eidos Interactive website, click on "games" choose Lego Star Wars from the list.
Summary: I am gaming junkie. I bought and installed about 25 PC games this year. I bought this game and encountered an installation error, which after some research appears to be a common problem. Never mind that my PC met all the performance specs. Eventually I was able to determine that if you encountered this particular error message, you could call a (toll) number and get a replacement disk, for free. Apparently I wasn't the first to encounter this problem.
Summary: My son had played this at a friend's house and absolutely LOVED it. We bought it online, but the specifications online didn't tell us we needed "pixel shader support", to run the program. After much work, we found out that we would have to pay over $100 for an extra computer part to be able to run this program. My son cried because this was his Christmas money and he couldn't return the game for something else since it had been opened (as we tried to install it).
Summary: Amazon should have known it was selling a defective product and pulled it a long time ago. There really is no excuse as Amazon is all about up-to-the-second information processing. The installation is a joke in and of itself... forcing you to hunt for the program in your "Program Files" folder (search in "Giant"). Definitely stay away from this game and Edios (PC version anyway).
Summary: There is a problem with the software instalation and I would definitely not recommend buying this software. Tried calling Eidos support line but only was only able to get the company directory. I am very angry about the time and effort spent trying to install this software on Xmas.
Summary: I like several others had the problem where after installing it, the program said "wrong disk inserted". My son had played the demo first on this computer so it appears that our hardware meets the requirements. In all my years of buying games, I have never seen such a screw up like this. Very disappointing to my son at Christmas! 1/4/05 It's been well over a week since I made the call for a replacement disk from Eidos. Still no response. Buy at your own risk!
Summary: My wife really wanted this game. After viewing the hardware requirements on the box and verifying that it appeared to be able to run on at least one of my PC's I went ahead and ordered it. Well, it won't run on any of my PC's since the hardware requirements are VERY specific. It will only run with a handful of video cards. Before buying this game, go to [...] and follow the "Can you run it" button. Wish I had before buying this (now) coaster.
