Kazuma Kiryu and the Infinite Sadness

RPGamer
5 May 2011
  • Excerpt: Last year the Yakuza series took me by surprise . While sandbox RPGs tend not to be my thing, somehow I became very engrossed by the trials and tribulations of Yakuza poster boy, Kazuma Kiryu. The world of Yakuza is shady and cruel, yet there are always hints of colour that change the perspective of Kamurocho, giving it warmth. For many yakuza, Kamurocho is life, love, and passion.

Digital Chumps

  • Conclusion: I really wish there were move campaigns to play through, especially in versus mode. They could have added a story opposed to just using the undead as a plot from getting from point a to point b. I don't see why this couldn't have been done in Single player, and leave out the story scenes for multi-player.

Hooked Gamers
16 February 2009
  • Conclusion: The main draw of a game is hard to pin down. On one hand, the entire game it can be viewed as an extended quick-time event, but on the other, there's still a sense of exploration and adventure as you traverse through the hazardous locations. The button responses were good and I never felt that it was the game's fault when I screwed. The best moments were when I was being chased or running low on time. It really felt like there was a lot counting on me to succeed.

Left 4 Dead

ME Gamers
19 January 2009
  • Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is Zombies are the paragon of fear in the heart of a horror-movie fan. Frankly speaking, we’ve all envisioned the outbreak of a zombie apocalypse and even make a mental plan for survival and escape. Problem is, the world seems pretty OK (for now) and the chances of people being turned into mindless, and flesh eating cannibals is slim (sadly).

Left 4 Dead

Cheat Happens
30 December 2008
  • Excerpt: There’s something fundamentally wrong with ninety percent of games on the market. Of course, developers program their titles to carry out specific functions and act in certain ways  – after a brief time in most games, enemies, worlds and even the entire experience itself can be easily telegraphed. When you boil it down, the entire game industry is based on one thing: risk vs. reward – and what’s the risk if you know exactly what steps your enemy will take?
