Summary: Parents need to know that League of Legends is a "Teen"-rated online fantasy war game in which kids team up with strangers to challenge other teams in arena-based combat. The goal of the game is to kill opponents -- both the player characters as well as the computer driven "minions" -- so there is a lot of blood and violence. However, the game is presented from a top down perspective and characters typically appear pretty small.
Excerpt: League of Legends is not just a game: it's a cutthroat competitive digital sport where the winners roar in victory and the losers whimper in defeat. Vi, The Piltover Enforcer will be released in the coming weeks, but here's a look at her and her abilities now. Excerpt: On September 1st, I had the opportunity to attend Riot’s panel on League of Legends at PAX Prime2012. With this article, I’m going to list the abridged versions of both the questions and answers brought up during this hour long panel: Down the road, will all champions be viable in competitive play? In the long term they would like this to be the case. What is most important to Riot is that the champions are fun. What are new / different ideas for season 3?
Excerpt: Now that Games Com is over, Syndra isn’t anything new. She’s been announced , videos have gone up, her abilities have been revealed, etc. That’s fine and dandy, but a bunch of text about abilities doesn’t really mean much until you add application to them. At PAX Prime 2012 I got an opportunity to give her a try.
League of Legends in-game video of Hecarim and Varus
10 April 2012
Excerpt: League of Legends fans have not one, but two champions to look forward to in the coming weeks: Hecarim, the Shadow of War, and Varus, the Arrow of Retribution. Riot Games has already revealed the new abilities for Hecarim while we gave a sneak preview of Varus from our hands-on gameplay at PAX this past weekend. However, aside from a few screenshots and character art, we haven't seen much of the champions in-game abilities.
PAX East 2012: League of Legends 'Varus, the Arrow of Retribution' abilities and impressions
6 April 2012
Excerpt: It's been a busy week for Riot Games who not only revealed Hecarim, the Shadow of War, but earlier today gave a sneak peek at another champion: Varus, the Arrow of Retribution. While we knew of Hecarim prior to PAX, it was just last night that his abilities were revealed . Varus, on the other hand, was a surprise as Riot just announced him today .
Conclusion: League of Legends is an amazing game for its price. It is, by far, the best free game I have played in years. Even better, while there are mild benefits for spending a little bit of money (fun costumes, easier/quicker access to more champions), the game remains very enjoyable for those who go for the entirely free route.
