Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West Accessibility Review

ablegamers.com
18 August 2011
  • Excerpt: Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is an online-only, multiplayer, third-person, class-based shooter. While it doesn't do anything that would be considered radically different than similar games, everything that Lead and Gold does comes together very nicely as a complete package. That being said, there are only about forty to ninety people currently playing online at any given time these days.

  • Conclusion: This is well and truly a return to form for Sonic. Although the main game itself can be completed rather quickly on a first run through, the challenge in returning to the levels once other Wisp powers have been discovered means that replaying the levels is a worthwhile exercise. The levels are well designed though so that each run through with a different Wisp power almost feels like a new experience.
  • Pros: Level design is great and a return to form for Sonic.
  • Cons: Levels can be blurred by the game speed at times.

Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West

The Gamers Temple
17 September 2010
  • Excerpt: I tend to steer away from games that don't have a campaign mode. While there are a select few games with multiplayer aspects that carry them into stardom, I always find the missing back story makes my involvement a little less passionate. For the most part this is true with Lead & Gold as well, however the attention to detail and unique systems used for each character type help to immerse the player into a world with no background other than 'hey look, dynamite and...

Lead and Gold (PC)

  • Excerpt: Lead and Gold is an online 3rd person western shooter. There\'s no background story, no singleplayer plot, you just pick a character and start shooting. You can rob a bank, go on a shooting spree or blow things up with powder kegs. There’s an offline practice mode that offers a tutorial and introduces you to the four character types and their abilities. This game reminds me of Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead in many ways.

Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West

  • Conclusion: Lead and Gold has the ground work and potential to be a game that people never forget about, but until the developers implement that characteristic that keeps players motivated, the interest will always be minimal.

Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West Review

GameSpot
10 May 2010
  • Excerpt: If the phrase "Wild West" conjures images of rootin'-tootin' cowboys and no-good varmints shooting each other full of holes at the O.K. Corral, then Lead and Gold might be the game for you. This multiplayer-only shooter pits two gangs of up to five players against each other in familiar game types like Team Deathmatch, Territory Control, and Capture the Flag (or sack of gold, as the case may be).
  • Pros: Good character class variety, Crisp shooting and movement mechanics, Attractive visuals
  • Cons: Small player population can make it tough to find a good match, Intermittent lag, Does not support voice chat
