Excellent game

John W., Newegg
24 November 2014
  • Summary: This is an excellent game, I just wish the keyboard-based controls were a bit more fine-tuned, and why for-the-love-of-pete can't anyone make a vehicle control system that uses the mouse to steer left/right? The A-D or arrow keys just suck as a substitute for the fluidity of a steering wheel, but a mouse does this by nature. Also, if you have this Complete Edition, you do NOT need to buy the separate DLC bundle, it's already included!
  • Pros: Pretty compelling story-driven gameplay. Great price when on-sale. Great graphics, realistic but still a bit stylized. Good character animations. Very good voiceovers. Innovative exploration system to locate and examine objects and areas.
  • Cons: Movement and exploration mechanics can be a bit "klunky" and awkward at times. Vehicle-control is keyboard based, awkward and "GTA"-like, difficult and awkward.

Pretty Good Game

Kyle M., Newegg
21 October 2014
  • Summary: I never had any launch/run issues. My desktop has Win7 HP with an FX-6300 and an MSI GTX 760 4GB. I also had a GTX 650 before I upgraded to the 760. I have also ran this game on my laptop a little bit. And I mean a little bit. I think I just launched it then went into a free roam session for a few minutes. Anyways, it's running 8.1 with an i7-4710Q and GT 840M (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231974&cm_re=asus_840m_i7-_-34-231-974-_-Product).
  • Pros: L.A. Noire is a pretty good game really. The story is quite good and interesting to follow, especially once you start piecing together the puzzle(s). The map is big and very detailed. One of the things I enjoyed was just driving around and exploring. There is a decent amount of activities to be had, from the main story cases to taking on street crimes (little one to five minute crimes where you have to take down criminals or solve a quick mystery) and finding hidden c...
  • Cons: The gameplay feels a little hollow. There is often only one button to push to get your character to do a long line of action. For example, running up stairs or taking down a criminal in a fist fight (although I understand the stairs part, trying to hit the exact tight corners while running up after someone would be a nightmare). The driving, while fun, gets to be pretty boring and monotonous. There is a make your partner drive option, which after about six hours in, I...

  • Summary: You are a detective solving crimes!! AWESOME!! This is a sandbox game which, in said game, you start off as a patrolman and end up a detective throughout a course of events that will have you investigating fires, murders, traffic "incidents" and all sorts of engadging cases that actually take some wit and trial and error to solve. There are also several chase scenes and fight scenes to keep you occupied and other things to help with replay value.

  • Summary: The game is as advertised complete with the DLC and for a more than reasonable price. PC version was said to have more glitches than console but I haven't experienced any as of yet

Great fun for the price

  • Summary: A lot of fun - even when your character screws up! Lots packed into this game. It would have been 5 stars if it had not been such a challenge to get the dang thing installed and working on my PC. I had to search the internet to find out how other users got over issues like the game locking up during startup and inability to hear voice dialog.

  • Summary: It runs pretty slow on my laptop, but thats probably because my graphics card is shoddy, but other than that its fun and worth the price.

  • Summary: takes a lot of thinking and challenges that thinking in order to solve the crimes in this game. It's definitely got some learning curves to overcome, but well worth it.

You've got to want it.

DesertIslandDJ, Amazon

  • Summary: This is a beautifully designed game, and if you're a fan of Dragnet or 50's-style noir, the world Rockstar has created is amazing. The facial technology they developed is unbelievable and a huge step forward in enabling storytelling in videogames. The storylines are good, and the game looks fantastic. Unfortunately, it's also dull and repetitive.

Update for LA Noire

Earl F., Newegg
20 December 2012
  • Summary: I followed all the fixes recommended by Rockstar and still had problems. It only started working after I had hi-speed internet installed. Would not run with dial up(I know but it was all I could afford) and I did not have to use any illegal cracks. Overall a very fun game for me, I am older and maybe that is why I enjoy it, the action is not as fast as as most of the other games out there.
  • Pros: Fun game if you can get it to run. Looks great in DX11. The action is a little slower, more thinking than shooting.
  • Cons: Took a long time to get it to run. The driving parts can be a little tricky (for me anyway, 60 plus yrs old) but you can always let your partner drive.
